The rush of the footsteps grew anxiety in me.
Isn't it funny that when your life makes sense and everything goes better than you expected, things take a one-eighty-degree turn and everything around you is scattered and you are left with no energy to build things back up again.

It took him twenty years to build this, to build this palace, to build this family, to build this trust in people and now I am watching everything tumbling down and it frightens me.

I, Y/N the princess of the Barhaden who is left with nothing but this name, pity isn't it, My father the king of Barhaden whom people loved extensively was found in a miserable state this morning.

Barhaden was the only monarchy rule in the twenty-first century. People were fond of us, they made us what we are, the royal family. A royal family with a father and daughter, though being loved by the world we were despised by our relatives.
They were the Satan for our lives greedy and jealous, well that's what Father said and I so believed it.

I was raised in the palace. All my life I was taught to oppose my enemies, taught to slay them with knowledge and taught to love, love only my Father.
For me, he was my only family, the only person who I can rely on. I never actually imagined a life without him even when I did I was terrified, terrified by the outside world, by all the scary people living there. I was raised sensitive yes I was taught to be strong but you can never change what is inside you no matter how hard you try.

When I shared everything with him, he hid a few things from me, possibly because they would scare me but now I find myself in a position where I believe I have the right to know every single word he hid from me.

"Princess Y/N is there anyone you can contact presently?" The police officer raised a question.

"officer I have no one but my father" There was sorrow and exhaustion in my tone probably because of my lack of appetite.

"ma'am we are not allowed to-" His words were cut off by a high-pitched voice.

"Y/n my treasure a-are you ok you look all worn off, have you eaten anything?"
There she is, my aunt Yora, father's s younger sister. I call her siren because well you know. This fake concern is probably for the police officers or I remember when I visited her house when I was eight years old she abandoned me in the forest the whole night, it was just me and the owls there.

"May I know your relationship with her ma'am"

"My relationship with her!! , have you never seen television young man, I am Yora Barhaden the owner of the Meli fashion brand and her aunt" Her voice was so pitched that the officer had closed his eyes in irritation.

"I will be taking her today to my house" she spoke out.

"Princess Y/N are you comfortable with her" He asked in concern perhaps he know how cruel they stand.
Before I could convey a voice of forties spoke behind me.

"I would be delighted if I have a world with the princess about the king"

Upon turning I found it was Fredrick Megburgh, Father's great man, very stern and very loyal to his work.

"Mr Megburgh I will join you as soon as I am done speaking with the officer"

"It's alright your highness I can wait" The officer said as he bowed and walked forward to the senior officer with the notepad he was holding during the interrogation.

"You know Y/N I'll be there if you need anything" My aunt stated as she patted my back. I moved away feeling uncomfortable.

"An order from you your highness and she is slayed"

"I was meant to kill you"Where stories live. Discover now
