Today was it. The last day of my Junior year. Even though it's only been a year or two, I don't remember anything from the last day of my freshman or sophomore years. But this year was going to be one to remember. Especially since apparently Claire's boyfriend, Mason, ditched last period to pick up the kegs.
"This is seriously going to be the best party of the year," Said Natalie, as her, Sarah, Claire and I all walked back to Claire's house to help set up and get ready for the party.
"Yeah and Claire, I love your parents don't get me wrong, but I am so glad they're spending the entire month of June in Jamaica," said Sarah.
"Letting me throw an end-of-the-year party is the least they can do after leaving me stranded for an entire month." she said.
"Claire, stop acting like having a house to yourself for the last month of the school year with no parents, no nothing, isn't the best thing that could've ever happened to you," I said.
"Okay now that you say it, it sounds kind of cool."
"It's not like they're missing seeing you graduate or anything," said Natalie.
"Okay yeah, You guys are right this is kinda cool."
"Exactly, I'm always right," I said, sarcastically.
"Whatever, Soph," said Claire before jokingly shoving my shoulder.
We actually lived pretty close to the school so it was only about a ten minute walk. Once we got to the house we immediately starting setting up food, drinks, cups, games, and all the fun stuff, which ended up taking longer than expected, so all four of us only had about an hour to get ready before people would start showing up.
I straightened my hair and reapplied my makeup before putting on some light wash jean shorts and a purple tank top. Claire curled her hair and put on a light blue baby tee and some white jean shorts. Sarah curled her hair and then put it up into a ponytail using a blue ribbon, then put on a ruffled top in the same yellow color and some white jean shorts, then Natalie left her hair naturally curly and put on a pink tank top and light wash jean shorts. And all of us were wearing our designated party shoes which were all probably bio-hazards.
People started showing up within the next 5 minutes and I didn't even recognize half the people the said hi to me. I guess word of the party spread to more people than we though it would. By 11 o'clock there probably wasn't one person that went to our school that wasn't there.
Me personally, I wasn't much of a party person, at every party my friends would drag me to, I would always try and find myself a nice quiet place about an hour in. Well, quiet enough.
"Well, well, well. Its the Sophie Foster," said a voice behind me which happened to be Dakota Keys, the guy my friends had tried to set my up with basically all of Junior year. I don't know why though, I never showed any interest in him.
"Well, well, well. It's the Dakota Keys," I said, copying him.
He chuckled as he walked closer then sat down next to me on the swing set in the backyard.
"What are you doing out here?" He asked.
"You know, hanging," I said. I was trying to be dry so maybe he would go somewhere else.
"No more details? Don't be so mysterious, Soph."
"Hey," I said. "Only my family and best friends get to call me Soph."
"Fine. Then I'll need another nickname for you."
"Oh, really? And what would that be?"
"Hmm. Since I can't do anything else with Sophie, I'll have to use Foster."
