Visiting the Songs had gone just as I'd expected. Linh cried and hugged me the hardest out of everybody. She may be small, but that girl sure has muscles. Tam said he was happy I was back and gave me an awkward side hug. Typical Tam.
We sat down together and as Tam listened and butted in sometimes, Linh asked me what life was like as a human. For some reason, Linh had always been curious about what life was like as a normal teenage girl, which was the opposite of what Linh was.
"It was fun to say the least," I admitted. "I may have definitely done some stupid stuff, but I had a lot of fun. Being in the Lost cities is fun, but nothing can compare to being a normal teenage girl in a public high school."
"I have to know, is it anything like mean girls?" Linh asked. Not long ago, Dex fixed up my old laptop and I didn't want anything to do with it so I gave it to Linh instead, hoping she would find some good use of it. It took some time, but she found her way around. Especially around Netflix. I will never forget the day she came to lunch and recited all of the lunch table rules to all of us, as a joke of course. I laughed harder than I ever had before while everyone else was wondering if she was okay. For such a nice and innocent girl her obsession with that movie was definitely odd.
"Well in a way. There was no burn book, or mathletes. But I was the new girl, just like Cady. I did have the popular girl and her friends take me under their wing, they were nothing like the plastics though. They were my best friends. There were school dances, 3 to be exact. And there were definitely parties. But unlike Cady, I never got grounded."
Linh muttered, "That's so cool." At the same as Tam said. "You guys are so weird."
I laughed and rolled my eyes, I missed these guys so much. "What's new with you guys, there has to have been some interesting stuff going on around Foxfire while I was gone," I asked.
Linh thought for a second before answering, "I'm sure at this point that someone had told you about Dex and Biana. Those two are the cutest, I love it when they sit next to each other at lunch and hold hands and whisper things to each other the whole time. Couple goals."
"For the record, no one else loves it," Interrupted Tam.
"Things have been pretty quiet without our main source of drama," said Linh, nudging me in the shoulder. "Keefe has been a surprisingly good student, we definitely saw him more at lunch than we have in all the other years combined. He almost passed Fitz as the smartest in the year. Almost. Don't worry, no girlfriends," she said, winking.
I smiled as she told me about Keefe being more successful in school, looks like he kept his promise.
"Fitz has been normal. I do know that telepathy went from his favorite class to his least. It'll probably return at the top when you do too. Stina has actually been surprisingly nice recently, she even started sitting with us at lunch some days. Apparently she is actually an interesting person without her snarky comments."
I gave her a confused look, which she took for a response before she continued. "Marella and I have been training together a lot more, too. Even though we never really needed to after you left since things witht he neverseen died down."
And will hopefully stay that way so she can stay.
"I know Fitz registered for the match and is waiting for his first list. He seems pretty excited about it. Keefe never completed his packet, he excused it with laziness, but come on."
"Actually, that is pretty believable with Funkyhair. He is pretty lazy." Mumbled Tam.
"I see you guys are still best friends," I said, sarcastically before Tam gave me the most atrocious eye roll.
