"Now, we just have to figure out how to get it working," the pilot said. They walked up to the train and peered through the windows. The train was dusty and covered in cobwebs, but it looked like it was in decent condition. "I think I can get it going," the pilot said, climbing into the engine car. Ben followed him inside. The pilot began to tinker with the controls, while Ben checked the rest of the train.
"Everything seems to be in order," Ben said, after a few minutes. "Except... we have no fuel." "Well, that's a problem," the pilot said. Just then, they heard the sound of footsteps outside the train. "Someone's coming!" Ben said, his heart racing. The footsteps grew louder and louder, until they heard a voice. "Hello?" the voice called. Ben and the pilot exchanged a look of panic. Was it a zombie, or a human?
"We have to hide!" the pilot whispered. They ducked down behind some crates, trying to stay as quiet as possible. "Hello?" the voice called again. This time, it sounded like it was right outside the train. They held their breath, praying that the person would go away. But then, they heard the sound of the door sliding open. Someone had entered the train. "Who's there?" the voice called out. Ben and the pilot stayed perfectly still, hoping that they wouldn't be discovered.
They listened as the person moved through the train, searching every car. Their footsteps echoed through the train, getting closer and closer. The pilot looked at Ben, his eyes wide with fear. They were trapped, and they had nowhere to go. Then, they heard the footsteps stop. There was silence, and then the person spoke. "I know you're in here," they said. "I can hear you breathing." "Come out, and I promise I won't hurt you."
Ben and the pilot looked at each other again, unsure of what to do. They could hear the sincerity in the person's voice, but they were still afraid. "I mean it," the person said. "I'm not going to hurt you. I'm just here to help." Slowly, Ben and the pilot stood up from behind the crates. In front of them stood a young woman, maybe in her early twenties. She was wearing a ragged pair of jeans and a stained t-shirt, and she had a bandage on her arm.
