"I'm Jane," the woman said, holding out her hand. "And I'm a survivor, just like you." Ben and the pilot cautiously shook her hand. "What do you mean, 'just like us'?" the pilot asked. "I mean, I've been surviving on my own for the last few months," Jane said. "I've been looking for other survivors, but I haven't had much luck." "But why are you helping us?" Ben asked.
Jane smiled. "Because we need to stick together if we're going to survive. There's safety in numbers, and we can help each other find food and shelter." "That makes sense," the pilot said, nodding. "And you seem like a nice person." "Thanks," Jane said, blushing. "So, are you guys from around here?" "No, we were just passing through," Ben said. "We were trying to find a safe place to stay when our car broke down."
"That's too bad," Jane said. "But I think I know a place that might work. There's a small town about a day's walk from here. It's called Haven, and it's protected by a tall wall. The people there are friendly, and they've got lots of supplies. And I think you guys would be a valuable addition to the community." "That sounds too good to be true," the pilot said, looking skeptical. "I promise you, it's not," Jane said.
"Come on, I'll show you. You can decide for yourselves if it's worth it." Ben and the pilot looked at each other, and then nodded. "Okay, let's go," Ben said. Jane smiled and led them out of the train. As they walked through the railroad yard, Ben noticed something strange. "Wait, did you hear that?" he asked. "What?" Jane asked. "I thought I heard something moving in the shadows." They all stopped and listened.
At first, there was nothing but silence. And then, they heard it - a low, rumbling growl. "Zombies," Jane said, her voice barely above a whisper. They all froze, not daring to move. The growl grew louder, and then they heard footsteps, getting closer and closer. "Run!" Jane yelled, and they all started sprinting away from the noise. Ben looked over his shoulder and saw a dozen zombies, running after them. "Faster!" Jane yelled.
Ben and the pilot ran as fast as they could, their hearts pounding in their chests. The zombies were gaining on them, and they knew they wouldn't be able to outrun them for much longer. They were nearly out of the railroad yard when one of the zombies reached out and grabbed the pilot's arm. The pilot screamed and tried to pull away, but the zombie's grip was too strong. "No!" Ben yelled, and he turned and ran back towards the zombie. He picked up a large rock and swung it at the zombie's head.
