Taking advantage of the creature's distraction, Ben ran around it, and came up behind it. He saw a stalagmite that was taller than he was, and he picked up a large rock. Then, he swung the rock as hard as he could, smashing it into the stalagmite. The stalagmite came crashing down, and the creature was trapped underneath it. The creature let out a final, deafening roar, and then it was silent. Ben stood there, panting and trembling. He had passed the test of courage.
The cavern began to shake again, and the green water in the pool began to bubble. A figure emerged from the pool, and Ben watched as a beautiful woman stood before him. She had long, blonde hair, and piercing blue eyes. "You have passed the tests of knowledge and courage," the woman said. "You have proven yourself worthy to know the answer to the mystery of life." Ben couldn't believe his ears. "I am ready," he said, his heart pounding.
The woman smiled. "Very well," she said. "The answer to the mystery of life is love. Love is the most powerful force in the universe. It is the source of all that is good, and it is what gives life meaning. Without love, life is meaningless. Love is what binds us together, and it is what makes us human." Ben felt a warmth spreading through him, as the woman's words sank in. It was the answer he had been seeking, and it was simpler than he had ever imagined.
Ben was still processing what he had learned, when the woman spoke again. "There is one more thing you must know," she said. "You may not leave this place until you have learned the answer to one final question." Ben nodded, bracing himself for whatever was to come. "What is the question?" he asked. "Are you truly ready to hear the answer?" the woman asked. "I am,"
Ben said, his voice firm. "Then I will ask you the question.
"What does it mean to be a good person?" Ben thought for a moment, his mind racing. He thought of all the people he had known in his life, and all the things he had done. Finally, he spoke. "To be a good person, you must do what is right, even when it is difficult. You must stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. You must be kind, even to those who are unkind to you. And most importantly, you must love, even when it is hard to do so."
