The rock connected with a sickening crunch, and the zombie let go of the pilot. The pilot stumbled away, clutching his arm. "Are you okay?" Ben asked. "I think so," the pilot said, his voice shaking. "We need to get out of here." Just then, they heard more footsteps, and they turned to see that the other zombies were almost upon them. "Quick, over here!" Jane yelled, pointing to a large, rusty dumpster.
They all climbed inside the dumpster, trying to make themselves as small as possible. The zombies gathered around the dumpster, sniffing and growling. They banged on the sides of the dumpster, their claws scraping against the metal. Ben could feel the panic rising inside of him, but he forced himself to stay calm. "Be quiet," he whispered to the others. "Don't make any noise." They all held their breath, hoping that the zombies would lose interest and move on.
The zombies seemed to be getting bored, and one by one, they began to wander away. As the last zombie turned to leave, it suddenly stopped and sniffed the air. It looked right at the dumpster, and let out a low growl. "Oh no," the pilot whispered. "Please, go away," Jane pleaded, her voice shaking. The zombie stood there, staring at the dumpster, for what felt like an eternity. Then, it turned and slowly walked away.
They waited a few minutes, just to be sure, and then they carefully climbed out of the dumpster. "We should keep moving," the pilot said, his voice hoarse. They all nodded in agreement and began to walk away from the railroad yard. "Thank you," the pilot said to Ben, still clutching his injured arm. "You're welcome," Ben said, his heart still pounding in his chest. They kept walking, their eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of danger.
As they walked, they noticed something strange - the air around them seemed to be getting colder. "Is it just me, or is it getting colder?" Ben asked. "It definitely is,"
Jane said, shivering. "And it's not just the air - it's the ground, too." The ground beneath their feet was covered in a thin layer of frost, and they could see their breath in the air. "What's going on?" the pilot asked, looking around in confusion.
Just then, they heard the sound of a low rumble in the distance. "What was that?" Ben asked. Suddenly, the ground began to shake, and the rumble grew louder. "It's an earthquake!" Jane cried. The ground beneath them split open, and a huge fissure appeared. The ground continued to shake, and the fissure widened, until it was several feet wide. "We have to get out of here!" the pilot yelled.
