The charm of working at Project Fauna was starting to wear off as Chuuya found that mostly, all he did was clean cages, but at least he got more time with Dazai. The two were hanging out more and more now, especially at work, and Chuuya would take it.
Plus, feeding the birds was pretty cool, too.
"Chuuuyaaa! Sekai is calling youuu!"
Dazai and Chuuya had decided to name the baby scrub jay 'sekai', meaning 'world'. Chuuya rather liked it. Sekai hadn't gotten much bigger, seeing as it has only been a little less than a week, but they just watched and waited.
"I'm coming!"
Dazai the crow had gotten his wing splint off the previous day, and he had already started his flight rehabilitation training. Chuuya just hoped it wouldn't be too hard for him. He had truly grown to care for the bird, though he would never tell anyone that, especially Dazai.
The brunette knew he loved Sekai, though. That was no secret.
Chuuya found Dazai beside Sekai's cage. He reached for the baby bird wrapped in her rag. Her beady black eyes watched him, peeking out from all her puffy gray fluff.
Her feedings got easier and easier the less nervous Chuuya got, and sometimes he even felt a little disappointed at how fast the time would go. He knew he couldn't keep Sekai forever, these moments were finite.
"Hey Chuuya!"
"Mm?" Chuuya responded distractedly, setting the baby bird back down in her cage.
"Will you help us give this bunny some injections?"
"Don't worry, you just have to help hold him steady," Dazai assured, "And I guess you haven't been properly introduced to everyone who works here, huh? You've only had a few shifts."
Everyone worked different shifts in one grand puzzle, and while Chuuya and Dazai always worked at the same time, especially since Chuuya was still learning, the redhead had indeed not had the chance to meet everyone yet.
