It's raining again.
The echoes of the prophecy gave you chills, stopping you in your tracks.
Those were just stories to scare naughty children into obeying, right? But even you can't deny it anymore. You saw the slow rise of the sea level, slowly creeping up the highlands of Fontaine. And that trial earlier? Who could deny the revelation that there's water that could dissolve people? What if one day, Primordial waters were to rain from the sky?
Then there's no escaping; everyone would be engulfed, and nothing but your archon would be left behind.
You shake off the pessimistic thoughts; those are just you overthinking things. Scaring yourself into crippling anxiety.
"Take a deep breath, you're going to be late..." You sighed. You look weird for staying in the open as the rain poured when everyone hurried to take cover in the nearest shop. "Those papers aren't going to arrange themselves."
Though you think it's just you going crazy thanks to the workload. You remember Iaune fainting from stress a few days ago. Being a Gestionnaire is hell; you'd already left working there if it wasn't for the paycheck.
With a step, you continue towards Palais Mermonia. Thoughts swirled in your mind. This never existed before. You would only worry if another stack of papers would be given to you. You'd never thought you'd be contemplating about a simple children's story and or death.
But what sin do you and your people harbor? Why are the same waters you've been familiar with since the day you could see become the same thing that would kill you all?
You're near the entrance when you see Mademoiselle Navia storm out of the place, the traveler and Paimon quickly following after. You wonder what transpired in there. Maybe they have new information about the serial disappearance cases?
Roialte looked startled, and his eyes locked on to you. You quickly ignored him, not wanting a new job to do. You get files you were requested to sign and read over. A few of them need to be given to the Chief Justice, and you know well than to trust anyone here to do it. They could write novels with their excuses.
After quickly signing the documents, you stand up, ready to go to the Chief Justice's office, but gossip doesn't escape your ears. It piqued your curiosity to find out earlier's events. You eavesdrop on the little group formed at the other table.
"What happened earlier? That voice practically paralyzed everyone in fear! I almost dropped my tea from it."
"I heard someone raising their voice and went to check it out, but it was already over. Then I saw Madame Navia leave the door with the traveler and Paimon with her."
"Oh, archons, who's the poor soul that got shouted on?"
"I think it's from–" he gulped, "Monsieur Nuevillette's office."
You knock on the door, and your heart drops. Oh no.
Great. You suddenly feel nervous, and sweat begins to form on your forehead. You hope Monsieur Neuvillette isn't in a bad mood. You'd bury yourself in the sand if he directed that anger at you.
