"But Daddy I wanted to stay in Canada." Drew complained as we arrived back at our house.
"I know you did Drew- you've said nothing but that all the way home." I told him, clenching my jaw slightly.
"Well why couldn't we?"
"Drew it's adult things, okay?" Marissa said soothingly, as he sighed and nodded. The car door slammed shut as he stomped up the driveway, folding his arms and waiting for one of us to unlock the door. I grabbed Alyssa from her booster seat as Marissa opened the door. Drew angrily threw the door back, making it hit against the back wall.
"Drew!" I yelled at him, watching as he gave me a glare. "Stop with the attitude!" I commanded.
"Like father like son." He yelled back, charging up the stairs. Marissa looked at me and shrugged, what else can I do? I can't tell him the real reason because for one, he'll get scared out of his wits. Two, he's way too young to be knowing any of this. Three, I couldn't tell him without telling him that I was, and technically now still am in a gang, and me and Marissa agreed that the kids will never find out about it. I placed Alyssa in her bouncer in the kitchen before grabbing the cases and dragging them inside.
"I'm going to go talk to him." I muttered before jogging up the stairs. He was sitting in the middle of his bed with the TV on. "Drew listen-"
"I don't want to hear it." He cut me off.
"We'll tough luck kid becasuse you're going to." I retorted, turning off his TV and keeping the remote behind my back. He began whining and groaning, but I didn't react or say anything until he stopped. "I know you didn't want to leave Canada. But where we were, there was meant to be some pretty bad storms, okay? We came home for your safety."
"Yeah but everyone else in Canada can't just move when the weather gets bad, can they?"
"But we were in a quiet area, where the storm is meant to hit."
"But we would have been fine, there has been blizzards before daddy."
"Drew, please." I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose.
"Can I have my remote?" I nodded and handed it to him, turning on the TV as I did. "What's for dinner?"
"Ask your mom." I replied as he nodded and followed me downstairs.
"Mommy what's for dinner?"
"What do you want?" She replied.
"McDonalds!" He cheered, smiling huge and exchanging glances between me and Marissa, as if to see which one of us will cave first.
"Fine. I'll go get it," I sighed, "you coming Drew?" He shook his head.
"I want to watch Scooby Doo, can I watch it down here?" Marissa nodded as he ran off to the living room. "I'll just have the usual." He ordered, making us both chuckle.
"Same as always?" I asked Marissa as she nodded and smiled.
"Won't be long."

The second I walked back through the door Drew came running over.
"Which one is mine Daddy?" He asked, as I handed him a bag which I thought was his. "Thank you." He rushed over and passed it to Marissa who already had the plates set out. Alyssa was sitting at her little desk in the living room, watching me and smiling.
"Hey baby." I cooed as I placed her little plate down in front of her. She smiled and made some baby noises before digging into her chicken nuggets. She's adorable. "Thanks sweetheart." I said as I kissed Marissa on the cheek as she handed me my plate, before walking behind me into the living room.
"Mommy, Daddy there's a new scooby doo movie on!" Drew yelled with excitement.
"Suppose we're watching Scooby Doo then." Marissa muttered as she took a bite of her burger.
"I guess so." I replied.

"Mommy can I go play outside?" Drew asked when the movie had finished. "I'll take Alyssa out and play with her!" He suggested.
"Sure, but be careful okay." He nodded and grabbed Alyssa trying to pick her up.
"I'll get her Drew." I said as I stood up, not wanting him to accidently drop her. "Set her mat out." I said to Drew as he placed her toys on the floor. He did as he was told and lay it flat, before sitting on it as I put Alyssa down. "Be careful." I said once more before going back into the house with Marissa. I got into the living room and flopped down onto her lap.
"I wish we could have stayed in Canada." She sighed.
"I know, I just didn't want to risk it with him being there. He doesn't know where we are here, so we should be fine." I replied, sitting up and stroking her cheek lightly.
"I thought all of this was all over Jason?" She questioned.
"I know, so did I." I sighed, wrapping my arm around her shoulders.
