Golden and Silver Friendship AU
Hogwarts Year: Four
Hermione dragged Harry to the courtyard after class, Ron quickly rushing behind them.
"Hermione!" Ron called from behind the two. "What is it—what is it that we're doing exactly?"
"Ron, I told you!" Hermione said. "We're meeting up with Pansy and Blaise!"
"But why so suddenly? We weren't supposed to meet them in the courtyard until after Potions!"
"Change of plans!"
Harry let himself be dragged as Hermione and Ron talked away and Hermione dragged him by his sleeve to the courtyard. Technically, he never gave consent to go with them but decided to tag along anyway, since Draco wasn't there. Harry's crush on the boy didn't stop the two from not getting along.
Finally, Pansy and Blaise came into view, and one more figure, too. Harry had to bite back a groan when he saw the tall boy with blonde hair and gray eyes.
"Hermione," Harry hissed, "I thought you said Draco wasn't coming."
Hermione stopped walking and turned in Draco's direction, dropping Harry's sleeve. She tilted her head, a confused expression painted on her face. "That's strange," she said, "he wasn't supposed to." She looked at Harry. "Just try to get along with him, okay?"
No problem with that, I'll just probably make a fool of myself, Harry wanted to say, but he just nodded and kept walking.
Pansy's head turned in their direction. She smiled. "Hey," she said, nodding her head at the Golden Trio. "So, we were thinking...Hogsmeade first."
"Absolutely!" Ron exclaimed, suddenly seeming very interested in everything going on. Blaise smirked at his sudden mood change, and then he looked at Harry.
"You two," Blaise said, pointing at Harry, then Draco, "Try not to kill each other, alright?" Harry stiffly nodded, looking at the ground, and the four who got along started to walk, chatting with each other. Draco looked at Harry, arms crossed, and smirked, ultimately deciding not listening to Blaise would be the first thing he'd be doing.
"Potter, a shame you had to tag along," Draco said, starting to walk after the four. "Would've had a much better time without you."
Harry glared at Draco, trying not to admire the beautiful smirk on Draco's face. "Shut up, Malfoy," Harry muttered. "You're the one killing the mood."
"I'm not killing the mood," Draco said. "You are. Staring at the ground, all depressed. You're blind to your own emotions, Potter."
"I'm not blind," Harry said in a sassy tone, looking up at Draco. "I have glasses."
Draco snickered and said, "Oh yeah?" before grabbing Harry's glasses off his face and putting them on.
"HEY, I CAN'T SEE!" Harry yelled, looking blindly around. He could see a blob of what was supposed to be Draco, though not well.
Draco looked around, smirking. "God, Potter," Draco said. "These are awful." He smirked at Harry, seeing the shorter boy without his glasses. Instantly he looked away; Draco didn't realize how the lack of glasses made the boy look so cute. But he shook that off and went back to his mean persona. "You want them back, Potter?"
"Yes!" Harry said, tone annoyed. He walked toward the Draco blob and held his hand out for Draco to give his glasses back. Then, Harry saw a fuzzy arm extend upwards, so Harry couldn't reach the glasses, which Draco had taken off. Harry frowned, jumping up and trying to reach the blobbed, thin line he saw that were his glasses. Draco snickered, walking backward with the glasses still in the air. Eventually, Hermione turned and saw the situation, nudging the others for them to see, though they let it play out.
Finally, Harry had enough. He pushed up his sleeves and focused on the Draco blob. "You asked for it, Malfoy," he said, and before Draco could react, he tackled him.
Draco let out a grunt of surprise but quickly took hold of the situation, rolling so he was above Harry. He grabbed the material of Harry's jacket and pinned him to the ground, glowering down at Harry.
Harry reached a hand up and quickly grabbed his glasses, putting them on. "Malfoy, don't you ever do that aga—" His jaw went slack and his face heated up as he realized the taller boy was pinning him to the ground. Draco looked confused for a second but quickly realized and his own face heated up. He looked up at Pansy, Blaise, Ron and Hermione and saw their reactions—Ron and Hermione looking surprised at the situation and Pansy and Blaise smirking and whispering to each other. Draco looked down at Harry and smirked, deciding to play along with the situation.
"Well, Potter," Draco said, purposely getting down on his elbows so he was closer to Harry's face. "It seems we're in a bit of a situation here."
Harry gritted his teeth, trying to push Draco off of him. "Get off me, Malfoy," he growled, trying to ignore his glowing red face. Draco's smirk only grew and he tilted his head so it looked like he was going to kiss Harry.
"Why?" Draco asked, looking Harry in the eyes. How had he not noticed how beautiful they were until now? He could get lost in those emerald things. He took note of the obvious blush on Harry's face and realized the situation. He leaned down closer—the two boy's noses were touching, but not their lips yet. "You're rather flustered, Potter," Draco said in a low tone, making Harry become more flustered, if possible.
"Get off, Draco," he finally managed. Draco's smirk grew wider yet again.
"First name bases, eh, Harry?" Draco said, studying the boy below him closely. "Well, I guess I shouldn't be calling you Potter, anyway."
Harry managed to make eye contact with the older boy. "Why is that?" he said, looking up at Pansy, Blaise, Hermione and Ron. He saw their reactions and quickly looked back at Draco, knowing Hermione and Ron would definitely be questioning him about this later.
Draco's smirk again grew wider, looking like it was permanent. "Because soon in the future, you'll be a Malfoy," he said, winking after. Harry's eyes widened, all of his skin going crimson, and he let out a sound of embarrassment, looking away from Draco and covering his face with his hands. Draco laughed at the reaction, admiring Harry.
"Alright you two," Pansy finally yelled, "you can have your first kiss in Hogsmeade, not on the ground. That wouldn't be romantic."
Draco smiled, looking at Pansy, then Harry. "Why, you're correct, Pans," Draco said, standing up and getting off Harry in one swift move. He locked Harry's fingers with his own and pulled him up. "Come on, Harry James Malfoy," Draco said, putting an emphasis on the last name he wanted to desperately share with Harry in the future. Harry wasn't able to make eye contact with the boy but he nodded, and the two joined their friends to head to Hogsmeade.
