The Servant

Chapter 4

"So, why did our Mum tell us we must come to dinner tonight?" Michael asked Helix later that week. Helix laughed, a smile like none other on his face. Chastity loved to see that smile on his face.

"Chastity, look at you!" Iona exclaimed. "You look..."

"You look like a princess." Michael said, smiling almost as brightly as his brother.

"Thank you," She said, walking over to Helix. Helix smiled and pulled her close.

"You truly look amazing, Chastity. So, is there some special guest we should be aware of?" Iona asked her. Helix smiled.

"Actually, my girlfriend will be joining us tonight. Many of the higher ranks in the court will be with us as well. They were told about her and wished to meet her." Helix answered, sounding like a true prince. Chastity was both proud and worried.

"Oh, well, we can't wait to meet her then." Michael said, looking at the two of them knowingly. Chastity was not surprised that he had figured out what was going on. It had been obvious to them, to everyone, how much Chastity and Helix cared for one another. They had seen it on the first day the two of them had met. It was herself and Helix who had been oblivious.

"I cannot wait to introduce her to you. Now, I believe we must go. Mum and Dad wanted to speak to us." Helix said, dragging her away from his brother and Iona. Chastity couldn't help but laugh at how he was lying. His parents were speaking with those on the council that were attending dinner.

Helix had dragged Chastity away into a hallway farther from the dining room. When she had asked why he said it was because he wanted to speak to her privately, away from prying eyes and listening ears. He had wanted it to be just them.

"What's wrong, Helix?" She asked while placing a worried hand on his arm. He smiled softly at her and pulled her to him like he always did.

"Nothing is wrong with me, Chas. I thought it would be best to have this conversation away from everyone else." He said, leaning down to kiss her forehead gently.

"What conversation?" She asked, getting worried. She didn't like how this was starting to sound.

"The conversation about you being confident. Baby girl, I don't want you feeling like you're less than them. You are so much stronger then you believe. That's why I help you with your chores. I love watching you help the elder servants and take care of the little kids. You have this big, selfless heart that makes you better than almost every person that will be meeting you tonight." He told her. "I want you to see yourself the way I see you. A beautiful, selfless, amazing young lady that would make a great princess."

"You truly believe that I'm beautiful?" She asked him. He smiled at her.

"Of course I do. I always have." He said, pulling her into his arms. She smiled and laid her head on his chest, a soft and loving smile on her face.

"Helix, Chastity, it's time to make the announcement. Are the two of you ready?" Queen Lucy asked them.

"We certainly are. I was just trying to get her to stop worrying." Helix told his mother. The Queen smiled.

"Well, I'm sorry to interrupt, but dinner is almost ready and introductions need to be done."

    "We're on our way, Mum."

------------------------------

"Prince Helix, it's nice of you to join us." The Head of Council, Cato Dacus, said with a smile on his face as Helix and Chastity entered the room. Helix knew from years of being around him that he was just teasing him, but he felt Chastity freeze slightly at his words. She didn't know he was teasing them.
