The Servant

Chapter 10

As Chastity and Helix walked into the dining room her nerves sky-rocketed. The man she had run from had found her. She didn't know what to do or what to think. All she could do was hold onto Helix's hand even tighter as they walked through the doors.

"Iona, Michael, what are you two doing here?" Helix asked when he spotted his sister-in-law and brother.

"Mom asked us to come." Iona answered. She had taken to calling the queen mom as well. "She mentioned that something was going on."

"Isn't a visiting queen and king here?" Michael asked. "Where are they? In fact, where are our parents?"

"I'm not sure. The king and queen from Hedora are visiting with their children. They should have been here by now." Helix answered as his parents walked in.

"We actually wanted to speak with all four of you before dinner, so we called you here early." King Max told them. Chastity could feel her pulse pounding. What was going on now?

"The two of you live in Gaca kingdom now," Queen Lucillia told her oldest son and his wife."So you don't know everything that is going on."

"What is going on?" Michael asked.

"It's about Chastity's past, her family." She answered. "Chastity was abused by her father, which you knew already. What none of us knew until here recently was who that father is."

"I can tell them." Chastity said. She was nervous, but she much rather tell them in her own words than have anyone else explain it. Not everyone knew the details of the story.

"Alright then,"

"My mother was the daughter of a maid for her kingdom's royal family. She had grown up in the palace and got along very well with the king's youngest son. As they got older their relationship grew, but his parents were against it. He was the one that was training to rule as his older brother was deathly sick. He wasn't allowed to marry some maid's daughter. However, they never listened and my mother became pregnant. To cover up what was going on, they were married. The baby didn't make it though. The doctors told them it would be a miracle if they ever had a child. About three years later they had me. My father wasn't very kind though, as he blamed my mother for everything that was wrong in his life. In turn, that hate was transferred unto me. When I turned four he sent me to work with the maids and I was only allowed to act like a princess during important functions. A few months before I arrived here, my mother found out she was pregnant, but she had a miscarriage again. My father went berserk and ended up hurting my mother so badly that she died two days later. Three months after he was still treating me horribly and I couldn't take it anymore. My friend Anniliese, another maid in the castle, and I talked to many of the older maids and servants and they helped us devise a plan for me to leave. The plan worked and I made it here." She explained, finally telling the whole story. It felt like a weight was lifted off of her shoulders.

"Your father was the king of what kingdom exactly?" Iona asked.

"The kingdom of Hedora."

Hearing Chastity tell the whole story broke his heart. According to the doctors she wasn't even supposed to have been born, but when she was her father treated her like a bug. That had put her self confidence at a low that no one seemed to be able to get up until just here recently.

"The king that is visiting here is your father?" Michael asked her. He looked upset, which Helix understood. Ever since he had found out who her father was he had wanted to do something about it.
