The memory of you - (x Chishiya)

(I accidentally labeled this as 27 yesterday, mb 🙏)

Just as I was observing the people who willingly went in the group someone came up to us.

"Do you guys want to tell each other our symbols?" His voice was kind, noticeably with no bad intentions in mind and just looking for someone trustworthy. It was overalls.

One look on his eyes read 'puppy with no where to go' and I was swayed right away. Just as I was about to agree and offer him a smile mr obvious spoke for me.

"I would examine all the people here a little more carefully. Make sure you keep the ones who don't lie close." He wasn't looking at either of us though, he was looking at the girl in blue who was very mischievously leading the huge group of people in front of us.

Overalls looked visibly confused and a little bit startled, but he didn't say anything.

Then Chishya turned to him, "For all you know, I'm the one who might be the Jack."

Of course it wasn't a no, neither a yes. More of a life lesson no one asked for.

"You see?" Chishiya looked at our view, "They all started breaking off into groups." To that overalls turned his head towards the crowd, "Everyone wants to know who's trustworthy and who's not." Chishiya said.

Then he looked over to me, and just when it looked like he was planning to lean his head on mine he 'snapped' back into reality when our eyes met.

Turning his head, he turned to the office couple, pointing at them. "Take those two. Before the game started, you wanna know what they were doing?"

"Thank you for this very important information." I commented. No one needed to know that. Which was evident because overalls had the same concerned expression on him that I was wearing on my face.

The thing is, I was the first to arrive and when I arrived it was quiet. For all I know, I dont have hearing loss yet so, they came in second? And fucked while I was asleep? Oh god.

"Thats not my point. Anyway, that guy wants to control everything she does to exert power over her. So that she can't interact with any of the other payers. Which is smart, in the long run. Thats how you can win the game." He explained.

Suddenly, a new fear got engraved in my mind. Is that what Chishiya was doing? Exerting power over me so that I'd get attached (like I somewhat already am), and inevitably wouldn't speak to anyone else?

I guess I wasn't at that extent yet, since I freely talked to anyone I wanted to but..

Memories of the beach suddenly flashed before my eyes. How sweet he was to me. How he opened up to me little by little or well, I thought he did. How the hours we spent together at night, watching the red lasers disappear one by one until the night was dark blue and dark blue only.

Was all of that really never real?

And then what happened with Arisu and Usagi. Did he know I'd be too deep in to actually leave forever now?

Now the regret of my earlier actions was washing over me. As if it were a nice beach day and suddenly a huge wave came over me, drowning me in the depths of the ocean.

And until I could get lost in my own rigid thoughts, I felt a hand squeeze mine. My eyes turned to him and his were locked on me. His head was still turned to overalls, but even with only his eyes on me he was sending a message.

It was as if his eyes could talk, as if he was reassuring me that wasn't the case.

But could I really trust him?
