Y/N's POV
The week at school following our Feldcroft trip was brutal. Sebastian had been fine the whole way home, but the first day back at class was bizarre, and his behaviour continued throughout the week. He didn't wait for me to walk to meals together or to go to class. He avoided eye contact with me during class and afterwards. He said he had a headache on Tuesday to avoid our potions tutoring session. He was even being a bit off with Ominis. Instead, he was consistently seen flanked by Austin and Hunter, who would shoot apologetic looks at me as we passed in the halls. It wasn't that Sebastian was being openly rude to me, he still smiled politely and said hello if we were around our friends, but it was like we were mere friends again and the whole weekend hadn't even happened at all. Any time I tried finding him to talk to him he was nowhere to be found. I heard whispers around the school, so many people last week had found out about our relationship, and from the outside looking in, it seemed we were over already.
By the end of the week, I was sure something was seriously wrong. I was completely confused and devastated. After the last class of the day on Friday, I felt like I was going to crumble. I shared this with Ominis, he could see how upset I was, he knew I'd barely been sleeping or eating. He rushed me up to my dorm, where Violet and Grace joined us. We all sat on my bed to talk about it. I burst into tears.
"Ugh I'm going to KILL Sebastian Sallow!" Violet spewed. "How could he do this to you, of all people!"
"It doesn't make any sense, y/n..." Grace said carefully. She was still not really in my 'good books' because of the whole Garreth thing, but I was too upset to keep my guard up around her right now.
"I don't understand why you haven't just confronted him, y/n?" Ominis implored.
"Ominis, I don't understand how he hasn't said anything to you!" I said in an exasperated tone. "You share a room with him, surely he has said something? Surely you have said something?"
"Of course I have love, I've told you that already!" Ominis said defensively. Realizing I probably hadn't been listening too well this week, given how upset I was, he continued with a more gentle approach. "He's been guarded with me as well. He's only been coming back to our dorm late and going straight to sleep, and then he's been getting up early and going. Any time I have managed to talk to him he just keeps gaslighting me and saying nothing is wrong and everything is fine, and telling me that I'm being overdramatic. I even sent an owl to Anne this week, but she said she hasn't heard from him since our visit."
"I know, I'm going to go get Austin, hold on," Violet jumped up and ran out, returning shortly with a sheepish looking Austin Bucks.
When Austin saw my tear-stained face, his face fell and he rushed over to console me.
"Aww y/n, I hate seeing you like this," he said, hugging me tightly. "I don't even know what to say... I don't feel like it's my place. You just need to talk to him."
"I've tried Austin, you know I've tried," I cried.
"I know you have babe," Austin said softly. "Look, he hasn't said much to Hunter or to me, we've been asking him what's going on. I think he's just a bit freaked out..." he sighed.
After a brief pause, Austin jumped up excitedly. "I have an idea! I was just with him, he's in the Common Room playing chess with Hunter. I'll get him in here..." a sly smile formed on his face, and he raced out of our dorm before I could stop him.
Grace quickly wiped the teary mascara from under my eyes and straightened up my messy hair.
A minute later, the dormitory door BURST open, Sebastian ran in looking seriously alarmed.
