"Go away, Felix!" A girl screamed, trying to remove the boy's hand off her wrist as she stood precariously on the edge of the roof

"Go away, Felix!" A girl screamed, trying to remove the boy's hand off her wrist as she stood precariously on the edge of the roof. "Why can't you just leave me alone?"

Rain thundered around them, and a strike of lightning lit up the girl's face. Kim Yeona. The mysteriously quiet girl who never spoke and sat alone, in the back row near the window. The girl who always wore long sleeves, but when didn't, you could see angry pink scars decorating her arms. The girl who never answered anyone's questions. The girl who was ready to end her own life.

"No!" The boy— Lee Felix— yelled back, fighting to keep his eyes open through the pouring rain. "I won't let you go!" He tried to pull her down from the ledge once again, but the girl fought him, her black pixie-cut hair stuck to her face as tears streamed down her face.

She wept angrily as she told him, "I don't want you here! I've never wanted you here! Just go away."

Felix shook his head, determined not to let the girl do anything that would harm her. "I don't fucking care, Yeona. You might never want me, but I will always be here. So please, just let me."

The angry clouds thundered again, making it almost impossible to see through the dark night sky. Trying to take advantage of this, Yeona tried to pull her hand away from the boy but slipped. I hope I fall the right way, she thought, ready to end her life.

She was just so tired

But for better or worse, she fell towards the roof, and for better or worse, Felix lept forward to catch her. He just barely prevented her head from hitting the wet concrete; just barely preventing her from almost dying.

"Why did you—" Yeona started, but Felix interrupted her with a hug.

He pulled her closer to him and embraced her tightly, refusing to let go as a tear slipped down his cheek. "Don't you ever do that again," he told her, his voice muffled by her warm body. "Don't you ever try to kill yourself again."

That was it for Yeona. She burst into uncontrollable tears, her body shaking as she lay in Felix's arms. "What else is there left for me?" She cried into Felix's already-soaked shirt, curling up into his familiar warmth. "No one loves me, Lixxie. No one will care."

"I will care!" Felix growled angrily. "I will fucking care if you die because I fucking love you!"

There was a pause that seemed to last an eternity. "You... you love me?" Yeona whispered weakly, her voice inaudible over the rain.

Felix seemed to hear, because he softly replied, "Yes, I do, Yeona. I've loved you since the day you told me to fuck off on my first day. And I can't just let you die."

"I love you, too."

"Then don't kill yourself," he begged. "Please."

Yeona forced herself to nod.

"Promise me, Yeona," Felix insisted. "Promise me you won't try again."

The girl couldn't bring herself to say it. "I only make promises I can keep," she said hoarsely. "And I don't know if I can keep that one."

"Then promise me that you'll try to get help. Please, Yeona."

The way his voice cracked shattered her heart, so she finally whispered, "I promise."
