"Who did this to you?" Felix demanded angrily as he sat next to Yeona, who was lying on the school's hospital bed. "Was it someone from school?"
Yeona chuckled weakly at his question. "Which part?" She asked, and Felix hurriedly wiped away a tear as he took in exactly how bruised and injured she was.
Her head was bleeding and had already stained the white gauze scarlet. Her arms, legs, and torso were covered with bruises all over, most of which were purple and blue. "All of it," he said quietly, determined to beat the living shits out of whoever hurt her like that.
Yeona seemed to pick up on his thoughts, so she said, "No. I won't tell you."
Felix's eyes widened in disbelief. "What do you mean you won't tell me?"
"I won't tell you," Yeona repeated quietly. "Because it doesn't matter."
Felix's blood boiled at that. "Yes, it does," he insisted. "They need to pay!"
Yeona shook her head sadly. "People like them don't pay for what they did. They just get away with it." People like the mean girls. People like her father. "It's my fault, really, for not being good enough," she mused out loud. "If I was, they wouldn't have hurt me."
The boy looked her dead in the eye as he told her, "This. Is. Not. Your. Fault. This is their fault, and to be honest, what do you mean you're not 'good enough'? You're literally perfect! I think you're perfect!"
"What you think doesn't matter, Felix."
Ouch.
Felix insisted, "I don't care if it matters of not, Yeona. It's true. You're perfect."
The girl shook her head, breaking their eye contact. "No, I'm not. You know, maybe things would be better if I just died, you know what I mean?"
Felix's eyes widened. "No!"
