A/n: this has been in my drafts for so long I forgot about it but I'm going to post it anyway so enjoy
This weekend was supposed to be great Pedri was supposed to be back with the team and playing in tonight's Classico but on Friday he didn't feel right in training so he was told to sit out for a few more weeks to avoid making things worse. He was heartbroken as he's been waiting to get back to playing and really wanted to play against Real Madrid but it wasn't meant to be so I've been trying to keep his spirits up the last few days. Despite not being able to play he still insisted that he wanted to watch the game to support the team and his friends and last night he asked me to go with him and of course I said yes.
Even though I said yes to going with Pedri I was still incredibly nervous about it. I have been to his games a million times but we have never been to a game together as we don't often go out in public together as I don't like all the attention it garners but today I'll have to try and get used to it. The media know about our relationship but still people like to post pictures and videos while we are out together which creates chaos for a few days but for Pedri I'll do anything. He actually seemed excited when I said I would go with him so I will have to keep my anxiety to myself because I just want to see him happy again after a tough few weeks.
As game time got closer and closer I actually got quite excited as every Classico is a big deal but this one especially as if Barca win they will go 12 points clear which is a huge margin. Pedri was the one who seemed to be a bit more nervous as we got in the car as he kept saying that he was worried that the team would not perform and ruin a good chance to get a step closer to winning the league. For most of the ride to the stadium we were talking about tactics and how we would set up for the game despite neither of us having any knowledge of how to do a managers job. Once we got closer there was people lining the streets trying to get a glimpse of the players which meant there was phones being pressed against the windows of the car and people shouting things as Pedri tried to drive. Pretty much straight away he grabbed my hand and held it tightly to reassure me that he was there to protect me.
Usually Pedri would stop and take pictures or sign things for fans but this time he didn't stop until he was in a parking space finally out of view of all those people. That was when he also let go of my hand but only to get out the car and open my door because as soon as I was out of the car he laced our fingers together again. Even though he's not playing Pedri was still told to walk in the same way as all of the players and usually the players just walk but themselves but he insisted on bringing me with him as he didn't want to leave me somewhere alone. The two of us walked down the corridor together and had a few pictures taken of us before quickly getting out the way and going to say hello to the rest of the guys before they have to go out and warm up.
After talking with the guys for a bit Pedri and I went to our seats which were next to each other to wait for the start of the match. I could feel the anticipation and nerves fulling the stadium but I was quietly confident as I know how hard the team have been working and this match will hopefully show that. As soon as the game actually starts Pedri's hand grips onto mine and when Benzema has a shot he squeezes it until Ter Stegen makes the save. I've never seen Pedri so stressed in the whole time I've known him but I thought it was sweet that he cared so much about the game even though he's not on the pitch. Every time Barca had a shot or went towards the goal he squeezed my hand and whenever Real Madrid had a chance he hid his face in my shoulder not wanting to know the outcome. Part of me was cautious of there being so many people around to see or film us but the other part just wanted to enjoy the game with Pedri which is the part I eventually let take over and happily let Pedri use me for emotional support.
By the time the second half started Pedri was a lot less stressed and we were both actually enjoying the game together. The crowd were great too constantly chanting and cheering which I got Pedri to join in with as well although he kind of just laughed at me instead of actually joining in. The whole mood changed when Asensio managed to get the ball in the back of the net, everyone was silent almost as they saw the score line change to reflect a loss. Pedri was so upset and looked like he wanted to leave but then VAR got involved and some hope was restored. When the goal was ruled out we celebrated like it was a goal for Barca Pedri grabbed my waist and pulled me into his side while bouncing around in his seat which was so cute I wish I could've filmed it.
We continued watching but when it got to extra time I think we were both ready to accept a draw which wasn't a bad result by any means but everyone would love a win. Just as I was accepting the score Balde made a great pass to Kessie who managed to get the ball in the back of the net. The entire crowd jumped up in the moment which included Pedri who had pulled me up from my seat before I could even register what had happened. He picked me up and was jumping up and down which I didn't think was a great idea considering his injury but I didn't stop him as he was excited. He eventually put me down and then gave me another hug to get the rest of his excitement out. That only lasted for a few minutes though before the final whistle blew making the win official and having everyone celebrating again.
"See there was no need to be so stressed" I said
"I know I can't believe it I do wish I was playing though" he said
"Well you are still part of the team and without you they wouldn't be as many points ahead so go and celebrate with them" I said
"Let's go but you're coming with me" he said dragging me onto the pitch
I stayed off the the side while Pedri celebrated with the group as I didn't want to get in the way or ruin the moment but when Gavi saw me he came over to talk to me which eventually meant that Pedri joined us. His arm went around my waist and he kissed my cheek which I knew was to just make sure Gavi knew I was off limits even though he's like my brother. We had a nice conversation and I joined the team in celebrating with the fans which was a lot of fun until Pedri decided to put me on his shoulders as then I was just worried about falling off. The celebrations went on for a long time as quite a few of the team decided to go out after and of course we joined them so we got back home quite late but I didn't mind at all as it was nice to see the team doing so well after struggling so much the last few seasons. I can't wait for Pedri to be back with the team so he can be part of that amazing feeling of winning.
