Plot Twist

Greigh POV:

I sit by Liana in the hospital waiting room, ricocheting my left foot anxiously against the floor. My no less worried sister grabs my thigh, holding it down to stop my desperate pastime. Liana isn't doing much better though; her freckled cheeks are flushed, her hair fallen out of it's

"I think it'll be okay." She tells me, though I know she's only saying that to make me feel better. She doesn't think Vek's father will make it out either. Twin intuition. But also common sense.

"You're lying." I reply, and she doesn't say anything back. She doesn't need to.

A Vek's sudden voice erupts from across the room. I don't catch what he says though, because suddenly Heyden is screaming too.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't control it then!" He yells in panicked desperation.

"I don't care, get out of my face!" Vek screams, then reels back and strikes his fist across Heyden's face.

Liana is first to react, leaping over to drag Heyden back, but Vek keeps pummeling his fist to Heyden's face as he sobs in anger. Heyden doesn't cover his face; just let's Vek bludgeon his fist into his own face. Now, Dean dashes over too, and grabs Vek's arms back.

"Let me go!" Vek screams hysterically, thrashing even though it's no use against Dean's strength.

"Guys, what are you doing!?" Liana holds back Heyden's relenting body.

"He's a psycho! A monster! A killer!" Vek continues to thrash as tears stream down his face. "Aren't you ashamed knowing what you've done!?" He growls.

Heyden doesn't respond, his bleeding and bruised face limp of expression. Vek finally tears one arm out of Dean's grasp, and lobs it at Heyden, the patterned ring on his finger tearing through Heyden's face. A trickle of blood

"Dude." Dean grabs Vek tighter and forces him to recoil backwards. "Why are you acting like this? Can you just explain yourself first?"

"That menace killed my mother!" He screamed.

I stride up to him, finally out of my weird trance.

"Wait, hold up. You didn't even know Heyden before this; please explain." I stand between Heyden and Vek like a referee.

"My mother was the doctor, okay? Dr. Black was my mum. And this moron has a secret ability to kill people that he never told you about." He jerks his head to Heyden. "Oh, 'poor innocent Heyden, doesn't have a third ability and the rest are boring', boo freaking hoo. He didn't tell you guys 'cause then he'd have to explain how he knew it was real. I'll tell you how it was real. Or, should I show you? Because my mother's grave isn't too far from here." He growls in anger and pain.

Liana gasps, Dean's eyes blow wide, and I don't breath a bit.

Dr. Black was Vek's mom? Everything is starting to make sense. Why Vek was the one who got the most immortally powerful ability, to keep him alive. Any sane parent would do that, wouldn't they? Or am I wrong?

"Can't say I'm not surprised at either of you shocking news..." Dean glances between Heyden and Vek. "But you can't pound him to the ground and expect that to make you feel better. It's not gonna solve anything."

"It'll make me feel a little better though." Vek snarled, lips upturned at Heyden.

Heyden, moving for the first time in minutes, looks up, his brown locks brushing in his eyes.

"Let him." Heyden says, freeing himself from Liana's gel nailed grip. "I put him in so much pain; why shouldn't he do the same?"

"Thank you!" Vek screams exasperatedly, forgetting who the enemy is. "Wait, no! You're right, but... stop having good morals!" He yells, tired of being the bearer of bad news.

"Guys... can we save this fight for later?" A nurse comes up and taps my shoulder. "This was brought in by a man, said to give it to the most... mature of you lot."

She hands me a crisp envelope, and it reads in loopy cursive handwriting, Mr. Greigh Coal

I gulp. Who would send me a letter?

"Gimme that," Liana snatches the letter out of my hand. "You're clearly freaking out, so I'll read it."

"I can hold it together, enough for a letter, Liana. Thanks." I say sharply, trying not to feel guilty afterwards. Not even my sister can help me anymore. I have to do this solo from now on. Everything.

She mumbles a sorry, but I don't meet her gaze because I hear the tears prickling in her voice, because she knows that I'm shutting her off, but she doesn't see it's for the best. Gosh, my life is just freaking Frozen. I hate that we look like the female and male twins version of Elsa and Anna too. Ugh.

I peel the wax seal away, letting it drop to the floor in a flutter, and take out a slip of fancy letter writing set paper. The edges are lined with ivory patterns, and at the top it reads Turner Industries. My gut twists.

Dear Mr. Coal,

You're going to attempt be noble about this, I'm sure, and try to fight us off on your own, but please note that I am expecting five formerly immortal people at the address I have added at the back of the envelope.

Our plan isn't working, and it's going to be harder to fight you all off now... due to some interference that has occurred, caused by Velina, I'm sure you're happy to hear. Now, we have her... on our side. Forcefully, I'm afraid, but nevertheless. She can still fight for your team though; I couldn't care less.

Due to the interference, we will do this the right way. Fight to the death.

Six versus six. Mortal versus mortal. You versus us.

Victors make it out alive. Victors get the serums.

If you decide not to show up at 3:00pm, I will hunt you all down.

Velina and her parents.

Dean, his sisters, and his mother, and father.

Vek.

Heyden.

Aaah, and we couldn't forget about you and your sister, could we?

I'll destroy her in front of her very eyes.

So. 3:00pm today. Only got an hour to get here, Greigh. We found the serums. Now we have to execute the last part of our plans.

We must execute you.

The letter drops from my hands, and Vek waves his hands in front of my face.

"Greigh? What did it say?"

"Were going into battle." I shudder.
