I decided to check out the ice rink while I had some time. Maybe I would find some students to teach as well. I met up with Jake & Jay hyung inside. "You look nervous, Sunghoon. Had a rough night ?" Jay asked, seeing as I looked a bit awkward. "떨린다고요? 아니요, 형. 떨리지 않아요. 그냥 좀 향수가..." (Nervous ? No, hyung. I am not nervous. I am just a bit nostalgic...)
Jake smiled as he handed me a cup of coffee. He tried to reassure me, "Nostalgic ? You miss skating already ? It hasn't even been a whole day since you decided to quit, Sunghoon." I nodded as Jake was not wrong. I had just decided to quit. However, skating will always be a big part of my life.
"당신은 틀리지 않았습니다. 저는 이것이 제가 생각해낸 이상에 지나지 않는 것이 걱정되는 것 같습니다. 제가 잘못된 선택을 했다면 어떨까요?" (You aren't wrong. I guess I am just worried that this is nothing more than some far fetched ideal I came up with. What if I made the wrong choice ?) My mind raced with question after unanswered question. Had I made a mistake ? Was all of this for nothing ?
Absent-mindedly, I looked over the rink with admiration. I will always call the ice rink home. My parents love me. I know they do, but I always felt like I was just a show piece. A prop my parents used to rise in social circles...
My home was the rink. I felt my most secure & calmest on the ice. I am told my skating was grateful as well as powerful. I never had seen it that way. I put my all out on the ice. It was the only place I could feel my emotions. I kept my emotions to myself as I hid them with fake smiles & laughter.
Soon enough I went outside when I spotted the flower stand again. This time it had a person behind it with a blinding smile. A smile of someone truly happy. Would I ever feel happy even after quitting skating ?

So, I approached the stand & was greeted with that same blinding smile. "해바라기 드릴까요, 선생님?" (Want a sunflower, sir ?) The man with the blinding smile' tone seemed to make my cold heart want to thaw. How cute.
