(Y/N) woke up flustered. They almost never remembered their dreams, yet they recalled such an intimate dream as clearly as one would a memory. The weird thing about the dream wasn't the fact that Luka was in it or what he had said, but it was how he'd said it that set (Y/N)'s mind racing. They risked a glance at the clock on their phone to see if they even had time to dissect the dream, and they felt a ping of excitement. The sun hadn't even come up yet, (Y/N) had realized as they pulled back their blackout curtains.
It didn't take much deliberation before they leapt out of bed in the name of watching the sun rise like they would with their parents, the cold from the morning stopping (Y/N) just long enough to slide their slippers onto their feet. Within minutes, (Y/N) was curled up on the extremely comfortable sofa on the balcony sipping a nice warm drink. (Y/N) didn't even bother counting how many pillows and blankets Owen had left for them, they just grabbed a bunch and got comfy outside.
(Y/N) sighed, smiling at how quickly the sounds of the city became such a comforting sound for them to listen to. (Y/N) had hated how loud Paris was the few times they had come with their parents, it was stuffy and humid and there were too many noises going on at once. But now, the noises were calming, and often accompanied by the smell of something delicious just around a corner. (Y/N) was especially lucky that the nearby bakery started their morning prep by now, so the entire street smelled like baked goods and sweets. (Y/N) felt felt themselves wishing Luka was with them, he could probably come up with a song to show how quickly they had changed their tune about Paris before (Y/N) could ever try to put it into words.
(Y/N) basked in the soft, gradual changes in the colors of light as the different hues painted the city, they admired they way the light hit the glass panes on the balcony door and danced across the floor leading into (Y/N)'s room. They heard the birds sing as people slowly began their commutes to work, now this was a life (Y/N) could get used to.
"Enjoying your morning?" a vaguely familiar voice said, startling (Y/N) out of their serenity. (Y/N) heard the soft clink of shoes on metal as someone stepped off of the railing and onto the balcony floor.
(Y/N) turned their head lazily, just enough to see the person until it was a blond guy in spandex, then they fully turned, jumping a little from surprise. "Chat Noir?"
"The one and only!" he smiled, bowing a little bit. (Y/N) couldn't tell if he was joking or if he was just overly cocky "You looked a little lonesome and patrol can only be entertaining for so long," he didn't sit down on the couch next to (Y/N), but he did sit on the floor near the couch "I'm in this neighborhood quite a bit, you'd be surprised how many rich people get akumatized." he mumbled the last part, like the fact was almost depressing. He brightened up, though, as he looked back at (Y/N) "You new around here?"
"Yeah," (Y/N) answered apprehensively, they weren't sure what exactly was going on. But, then again, it's not every day a superhero randomly decides to join you on the roof.
"I know the couple that lives here. Really nice people. You their daughter's kid?" the blond asked, his tone curious but his eyes sad at what that would mean if (Y/N) said yes.
(Y/N) nodded, and Chat Noir nodded in understanding. He stood quickly, putting a consoling hand on their shoulder, but clearly looking for a sign of discomfort as he moved closer "I heard what happened to them..." he was silent for a long time, what was initially just a weird situation suddenly turned somber "I've...lost a parent, too. It's not easy. I'm impressed you haven't been akumatized yet." his voice was lighthearted, but the joking nature did not meet his eyes.
"Honestly?" (Y/N) responded, curling into themself a little "So am I."
Chat Noir smiles "Guess that just means I'll have to keep an eye on you. Consider it part of my patrol!" he seemed excited, but (Y/N) knew the look of apprehension anywhere "Only if you're okay with it, that is."
