"Where the hell did you go?" Luka's voice trembled as he spoke into the phone, part of him was thankful that (Y/N) didn't have to see him like this. When he saw their name pop up on his phone after what felt like an eternity of searching, he almost fell to his knees in relief. He had to hold his arm steady just to keep the phone held up to his ear. He was so focused on finding them that he didn't even bother watching the news when the new hero showed up. The only reason he knew about it was because everyone was watching it, every screen he passed showed something about it. "Are you okay? What happened? Where are you?" he felt guilty barraging (Y/N) with questions, but he had just spent the last half hour in a blind panic.

"I'm okay," god, their voice couldn't possibly sound any better. Luka forced himself to focus, but the relief of hearing their voice confirm they were alright was impossible to ignore. They sounded out of breath, maybe they were looking for him too? Why didn't they just call him? Why didn't they pick up when he called them over ten times? "I'm by the school."

"Wait for me. Don't you dare move an inch," Luka said with a laugh, a mix of relief and an attempt to ease (Y/N)'s nerves. "I'll see you in ten minutes."

"I'll start my timer." (Y/N) mused, he could hear a car honking on the other end of the phone. It was almost concerning how quickly people went back to business as usual after these kinds of attacks. Luka was already running as he hung up the phone, nothing was gonna stop him. His feet pounded on the pavement, pedestrians and bicyclists clearing the sidewalk as he ran, determined to lay eyes on (Y/N) as soon as possible, to look them over and see for himself that they were fine.

He made it in five minutes.

As (Y/N) paced back and forth at the bottom of the school's steps, they felt a warm, strong pair of arms wrap around them. They recognized the bracelets on their wrist and smiled, turning around to hug him before a single word was exchanged.

"That didn't look like not moving an inch, you menace." Luka's smile was infectious, it was so big that his canines were on full display as he leaned down to kiss their forehead and smooth out their hair, his hands resting on both sides of their face "You are not allowed to disappear on me like that again, okay?" his voice was light, but the look in his eyes was serious. He didn't say anything else until (Y/N) nodded, then the tears brimmed the edge of his eyes as he pulled them in for an even tighter hug, (Y/N) could feel him shake as he tried to steady his breathing.

"Luka," (Y/N) murmured, drawing it out a little as they rubbed his back "You're okay. We're both okay. I promise." They kept their voice soft and soothing as the beautiful boy holding them broke.

"You scared me!" Luka cried, "One minute I was holding your hand and we were running and the next you were gone. I had no idea if you were okay. You weren't answering your phone, I didn't even have a clue where you might have gone until you called me. I care about you, (Y/N), I hated not knowing if you were okay. You can't-" he faltered, his voice broke as he pulled them impossibly closer "you can't do that to me again, okay?"

(Y/N) stood there in shock. They knew Luka would be worried, but crying in the middle of the sidewalk worried? (Y/N)'s eyes started to water up as they hugged him, both happy that he was okay and touched that he worried so much about them. Luka slowly sat them both on the ground, his back against the wall of the school as they clung to each other. "I'm sorry Luka, I got caught up in the chaos and lost my phone. I had to look for it after everything was over." the lie tasted like poison as they said it. They hated lying, they hated lying to Luka. They knew this would happen again eventually.

He shifted (Y/N)'s head so it rested against his chest, his heartbeat erratic but slowly calming down as he began to tenderly stroke their (H/C) hair. He kissed their head before speaking, his voice hoarse from crying "It's okay. I'm just happy you're okay. You're safe in my arms. You're okay. You're okay. You're okay," he murmured those last two words what felt like a million times before stopping. "This is one of those things about living in Paris I was used to, but you" he trailed off "I don't think I could ever get used to the thought of you in danger." he looked at them, his eyes full of a powerful emotion that (Y/N) couldn't quite place. It was warmth, it was devotion, it was...love?
