I didn't know how to confess. It was now or never.
But what if she didn't like me back?
But rejection is a normal part of life, right? There's plenty of fish in the sea.
As I was about to find Eyes, Screech came in.
"Oh hi Screech.." I uttered.
"Hi!" Screech said happily.
"What happened?" I asked, not that I care.
"Your brother asked me out."
I was a bit shock, but not surprised. "Oh wow, I'm really happy for you!" I exclaimed. It was true, I was happy for her but I wasn't really surprised.
"You know...I had a feeling he was going to go that loooooooong ago..." Screech started dreamily.
I wasn't really listening. All I could think about was my confession. But with Screech here in the room? No, I couldn't leave.
I was half listening and half zoning out while Screech went on dreamily about brother. I honestly don't get what she sees in him. Sure, I guess he's pretty nice and has a sense of humour, but I find him annoying. Aren't all siblings though?
-------------------
When Screech FINALLY finished her story about he and my brother, I could finally excuse myself and leave the room.
I ran down the hallway. It was surprisingly quiet. Where was everyone? I felt as if someone was watching me, but I shrugged it off. Maybe my sister was just scared for my life, and dopplegangers didn't really exist.
But I didn't have time to worry about that. I decided to go find Eyes' dorm. I was pretty sure it was near the courtyard. As I was about to turn, I bumped into Rush.
"I'm so sorry, I-" I began.
"Nah, it's fine. Where you heading?" He asked.
"Oh um- just Eyes' dorm." I stuttered. Why was I so nervous? It wasn't like I was actually talking to HER.
"Oh okay, cool. Well, I have to go so I'll see you around!" He added with a smile.
"Yeah- same." I said.
When Rush left, I knocked on the door. "Who is it?" I heard a voice say. It sounded like Eyes.
"It's me." I replied. As soon as I did, the door opened.
"Hi Ambush." Eyes said. She seemed surprised to see me. "What are you doing here?" She asked, smiling.
"I'm here because I wanted to um- uh-" I couldn't finish my sentence.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"What- yeah, I'm fine! I just-"
But before I could finish my sentence, GL came up to us. "There you guys are! Head to the cafeteria right now or you'll be late for dinner."
"Oh well. You can tell me on the way to the cafeteria." Eyes said.
"No, it's fine. I'll just tell you later." I was so nervous to speak. I was afraid of the fact I might be rejected.
-----------------------------------------------------
So I'm trying a new approach now.
Instead of telling her directly, I can write a letter or a poem. I tried to eat as fast as I could to go to my dorm early to work on it.
Anyways, these are the poems. I'll write a record of them in case some idiot decides to throw my letter away.
Option 1:
L is for "laughter" we had along the way.
O is for "optimism" you gave me every day.
V is for "value" of being my best friend.
E is for "eternity," a love that has no end.Option 2:
A million stars up in the sky.
One shines brighter - I can't deny.
A love so precious, a love so true,
a love that comes from me to you.I still don't know which one to pick. I'm thinking maybe option 2- it's more obvious it's about love, and the first one seems like a poem you would send to a friend for appreciation.
Just as I was about to write the good copy, the door swung open.
"Hi Ambush!" Screech chirped.
"Oh- uh- hi.." I began.
"What you doing there?" Screech asked.
"I'm-uh-writing something! So I won't forget." I lied. It was quite stupid, and I could tell Screech was still a little suspicious.
"Are you sure? It looks like a love poem.." Screech implied.
I gasped. I couldn't believe that Screech had the audacity to be so nosy and look at my letter. I was super angry, but I couldn't scream. I couldn't yell, shout or be loud.
"Fine...it's for Eyes..." I uttered.
Screech was literally squealing with happiness. Like- calm down! You don't need to by so hyped up over your friend liking someone.
"Don't tell her please.." I begged.
"I won't, promise."
---------------------------------
After FINALLY finishing the letter, I ran to the cafeteria, holding the letter. Although I looked calm on the outside, I was screaming on the inside. What if I got rejected? What if the letter was cringe? What if...what if?
As these worrying thoughts invaded my mind, I already reached the cafeteria by then. I took a deep breath, and walked over to my table.
"Oh hi, decided to come back?" Rush asked.
"Well...not for long. I just wanted to give Eyes something."
"What is it?" Eyes questioned.
I handed her the white envelope. My hands shaking. All eyes on the table were on me. I felt as I was being judged. Every movement.
"Well..thanks for the letter. I'll open it later." Eyes said.
"Open it in your dorm..it's kind of private." I whispered to her. She nodded.
"Well, I have to go now. I'll see you guys tomorrow." I said as I was walking out of the room.
The worrying thoughts invaded my head once again.
