18: An Unexpected Engagement

After Sidon and (Y/n) had confessed their love for one another at the Lover's pond, they headed back to Lurelin Village to get set to leave. After all, Sidon had some news he had to report straight away to his father, and time was of the essence.

Everyone wished them farewell, but not without noticing how there was a different air between the two. The way they stood closer to each other than before, the way they would constantly glance at each other... Something definitely happened between them at Tuft Mountain.

The two went to secure (Y/n)'s Hylian body on the ship, finishing on restocking their supplies before they were hitting the road again, bidding the village of Lurelin goodbye for now.

Though silently, both Sidon and (Y/n) agreed they will be coming back to Lurelin when they could. Though their time there was brief, they had a lot of fun together there, just enjoying the beach. Sometimes it was just the simple things that could make someone the most happy.

And now that Sidon and (Y/n) knew how they felt about each other, things have been a bit... flirtatious since they have been out on the road, heading back to Zora's Domain.

For some unfathomable reason, (Y/n) had the strong, almost instinctual urge to nuzzle her crest against Sidon's. After a while, (Y/n) lost count of how many times she would request for him to lean down so she could do it, not that Sidon minded at all. If anything, he was in the same boat, though he seemed to understand whatever this was more than she did, being born a Zora and all.

"S-Sidon... Why do I keep having the urge to do this? I have never seen any other Zora do this before..." (Y/n) whined after she was yet again compelled to do it. If she tried to resist, she would just let out what sounded like a strange whining sound, like a Hylian Retriever begging for pets.

Sidon softly chuckled. "Because this is one of the ways we express affection to one another, and it is often frowned upon to do this in front of everyone. Since we are soulmates, we just have the need to be close to each other like this." He explained.

"Y-Yes, but, when we get to the Domain, we have to get a rein on this..." (Y/n) murmured.

Yes, she was happy to be with Sidon like this. This situation was the ultimate dream. However, she was not sure if the Council Of Elders would be so keen for a commoner like her to be with the only heir to the throne. Even if she would be classed as royalty with her very distant connection to Princess Zelda, she still did not grow up in that kind of life. She did not know how to conduct herself as a royal, or all the information a royal was required to know. Though she knew some of the Zora would be supportive, like Kodah and Kayden, she was not too sure if the others, especially the council, would be the same.

But, if somehow, their union was to be accepted by everyone, (Y/n) was quite nervous of the prospect of having to be a princess. She adored Sidon, it was true, but, she didn't exactly think that one day her lover would be an actual prince, that this would be something she would have to even think about! Then there is the fact she is not even a real Zora, but a Hylian! Even if they all did accept a Hylian to be their princess, she wouldn't live as long as Sidon. So many concerns ran through her mind, and it was starting to show on her face.

(Y/n) felt a soft hand rest on her cheek, before she was looking up at Sidon, who gave her a tender smile. "Now, there is no need to worry. Nothing can get in the way of fate." He reassured her, which helped in getting a smile on her face. As positive as ever... How she adored that about him.

Travel would continue to go smoothly for a while, nothing but the sound of wind and water reaching the two before they spotted the Floret Sandbar. This was an area that was apparently a dedicated garden to Princess Zelda. The only reason either one of them knew that was when they passed by the first time, they were shouted that by a Hylian woman. They were also told to "Not attack the flowers!", among many other colorful things.
