After months of tests and visits with Dr. Hems, I was ready to pop. I decided not to know if it was a boy or a girl, plus I hadn't been to TM for weeks. Tara had been helping me a lot, and in return, as I promised my brother, I helped her with the kids. One day, around a month before my estimated due date, I was staying with the boys and Tara at their house when I felt a sharp pain in my lower side. "Don't kick me, Baby right now." I quietly said, rubbing my side where I was feeling the pain. "Oh my god, Lex," Tara sat beside me, pointing at the huge puddle of water underneath me. "Oh shit, is it what I think it is?" I looked at Tara. "We should go. Neeta can stay here with the two boys." Tara ushered me to her car. I had my bag. I used to carry my stuff in case, all of a sudden, the twins wanted to come out. We got inside and checked in at the hospital while I was hanging on a machine measuring the twins' heartbeats and how far away the contractions were. Tara sat with me the whole time until it was time to push. "You ready to meet the Babies?" Tara asked, and I nodded. "Hell yeah." I smiled back. After much pain, I had my beautiful Babies in my arms. Theo was first, and after just a minute, Amelia came out. I cried happy tears when I was finally holding my two babies. "Hi, sweethearts, welcome to my life," I said with a smile. "Congrats, Lex, you have two beautiful babies." Tara was smiling down. "Look at Amelia. She looks a lot like Juice," I said, seeing similarities between her and Juice. "Yeah, the skin tone is a little darker than you, and she has his nose and lips," Tara said, looking over. "Yeah, and Theo has my eyes and my nose." I smiled, kissing the little boy on his head. "Im gonna let you rest." Tara squeezed my shoulder. After another week in the hospital, I got home with the two babies. The first three days were horrible. The kids were crying and hungry, making me sleep-deprived and grumpy. About three weeks after coming home, I got a visit early in the morning by Ope, who came by just as I was walking to the kitchen after a very short night. "Jesus Christ, I can't do this right now." I grumbled but then decided to see who was knocking. I saw a very bearded figure standing at my door as I opened it. "Whoa, you look messed up." Ope told me, "Just what I wanted to hear." I let him in, leading him into the kitchen, which was chaos with bottles lying on the counter and dirty dishes in the sink. "Whoa, what happens? You got a baby?" he asked. "Two a boy and a girl, Theo and Amelia, and thanks for pointing out how my house looks as a single parent a month after they were born." I said, pointing to the baby pictures on the fridge. I looked back, seeing Ope getting greeted by Ace and Echo. "Wow, that's why you didn't show up for months and refused any visits?" he asked. "Yeah, I was trying to figure shit out myself, but as you can see, ist a mess." I let out a loud sigh. "I'm super sleep-deprived, slept for maybe two hours per day. The babies wanted a lot of attention." I passed him some coffee while getting some O-Jay from the fridge. "You need some help?" Ope offered, but I didn't want to put more work on him with all the stuff he had to do. "I can manage. I need to shower and sleep." I scoffed, my eyes almost closed. "Come on, you go and take a shower and some sleep, and I'll stay with the kids." Ope got up. I shook my head. "You don't have to." I tried to continue, but Ope stopped me. "Stop being so stubborn, Lex. Let me help you." I sigh. "Fine." I grumbled. I converted with a quick tour of the nursery, an old guest room. "They're both still sleeping so peacefully." Ope whispered. "Yeah, I think Amelia looks much more like him and a little more like me." I whispered back. "I have milk in the fridge for them prepared, so if they cry, you just have to heat it." I explained. "I guess I can manage." Ope mumbled. "If chaos ensues, wake me, but I hope not." I thanked Ope profusely. After a relaxing shower, I got changed and went to bed, sleeping for what felt like an hour but was six hours. "Wow, I feel like I slept for ages." I mumbled. "Mornin' darling' so these angels were the reason you disappeared for over half a year?" I stopped at the kitchen entrance when I found Opie and Chibs sitting on the kitchen table, each with a baby in their arm. I looked over to Ope, who shrugged his shoulders. "He came by an hour ago after I didn't show up." He explained. "These two woke up, so we're feeding them." Chibs added. I looked at my kitchen, which was clean, and even the dishes were drying. "You don't know how thankful I am." I said to Ope, who had Amelia, who was peacefully suckling on her bottle. "I'm helping. That's all that counts." Ope passed me Amelia, who was asleep. "How old are they?" Chibs asked. "A month." I replied. "Why didn't you ask for help? How did you get to the hospital for appointments?" Chibs asked. "Tara drove me since she had little Thomas. She had the time." I said, holding Amelia in my arms and moving around to keep her asleep.
