Chapter Seven: Save the Citizen

The next day was a bit awkward. Dad was still fuming about one, me dating Warren, and two that he and Will both got into trouble with Mom. Will was mad for the same reason but he should have expected that when he told Dad about Warren before I could. "Morning mama" I greeted coming into the kitchen to see my favorite breakfast ever. "Is this?"

"Yes, homemade sausage and gravy with biscuits from Tennessee" She smiled as she placed a plate on the table for me.

"How did things go after I went to bed?" I asked as if I didn't know that they both got torn a new one.

Mom sighed as she put a glass of OJ in front of me. "Never mind that, when do I get to meet this boy who proclaimed his love for you" I swear my face was glowing like a Christmas tree.

"Mooooommmmm" I whined trying to hide my face.

We kept talking until it was time for me to go to school with Will, when I got on the bus, I gave Magenta a kiss on the cheek and walked all the way to the back where my boyfriend was. I love that word. Boyfriend. I never thought I would get one, especially not as a freshman.

We didn't say a whole lot, I was mostly listening to music as he played with my fingers. I don't know why but he always likes to either play with my hair or my fingers.

Anyways, the school went by pretty quickly today. It was also 'Save the Citizen' day for the gym. Luckily, Warren was in that class with me. On my way to the gym, I hear "Hey Noel" From Magenta. I turn around to see the purple-haired girl run towards me. "So I hear that you and Warren are official," I blushed "Tell me how did that go with your folks"

I groaned as we walked to the locker room to change for the gym. "My mom was cool about it. She is actually over the moon about me finding someone." I admit as I take my clothes out of my locker and begin to change.

"And your dad? You told me that you two aren't exactly close."

I scoffed as I changed my bra into a sports bra and put on my tank top. "Yeah that's an understatement," I told her as I changed into my shorts. "I didn't even get a chance to tell him."

The shape-shifter looked at me confused. "What do you mean?"

"Will told him before I could even say it was official."

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" She yelled in shock as she finished her space buns.

I laughed at her reaction and nodded. "I know. Dad got so angry at me and honestly, for a moment I was scared." Magenta gave me a worried look "He didn't do anything to hurt me physically. Thankfully mom keeps him in line most of the time. He just banged the counter and my powers flared up. But I did get Will in trouble with Mom too." I chuckled.

"That sounds terrifying."

I nodded "Oh, would you be mad if I sat with Warren? This is one of the only classes I get to be with him and I don't want to be around Will"

She shook her head "No, you go spend time with your boyfriend. I will try not to strangle your brother and Layla." She held her hands together like she was choking someone out.

I laughed at her and gave her a tight hug. "I love you so much M."

After we were done in the locker room, I climbed the bleachers to find Warren looking annoyed. I went up one behind him and walked up to his ear, "Hi sparky" He turned around grabbed me by my waist, and pulled me onto his lap causing me to laugh.

He smiled down at me "Hi snowflake." He pecked my nose before letting me go but I didn't move.

Once the 'Save the Citzen' game began, Warren wrapped his arm around me and pulled me close to him. "Warren," he hummed in acknowledgment. "Why are you so tense?"
