Chapter 6- TLO 2

Tampa, April 13th

Taylor's POV
I wake up and can't help but smile seeing Claire sleeping beside me. She was sleeping with mom but she came to my bed last night to talk since we were both awake.

Mom, Claire and I are in the same big master suite in the hotel. I guess we talk until we sleep.

Carefully I got up without making any noises and put on my slippers before looking around for mom. He's on the couch reading gossip magazines, which I always find funny.

– Hey mom, good morning.– I hug her.

– Hey Sweet. Can you tell me why in the hell
your sister went to your bed in the middle of the night?

– She was having trouble sleeping. So I talked to her until both of us were out.

– Teenagers always have trouble sleeping…

– Speaking of that, it's hard to believe she's turning 12 already. It feels like yesterday I was at the airport with numb legs after knowing my youngest sister.

Mom chuckles with the memory.

– That day was so special… one of my favorites.

– Yeah, I was jealous before you told me about her story, but I fell for her immediately after. She was so cute… she's still cute actually, except when she throws tantrums.

– They are more and more frequent. This week she spent the whole Wednesday without talking to me because I didn't let her use a tiny skirt that was almost showing her panties. I told her we need to buy more clothes but she just throw a tantrum and took the scissor and cut the whole skirt in my face, throwing the pieces on the floor.– She says and I sigh. This is not okay.
– You grounded her, right?

– Yes, 24 hours without her phone. She only gained it back when we got here yesterday. She's getting really hormonal.

– Did she have her period yet?

– No, but I think it's coming sooner or later. Her body is changing.

– It's a weird time, this pre-teen fase. Thank God I had you with me and I could ask you whatever I wanted.

– I'm glad I made you trust me, and I hope I have gained Claire's trust too. She's way too independent to her age, you know, but at certain points she's a baby still.

–Did she ever ask you about boys? Or girls?

– Thank God no, I'd be glad if she never asked me.– she says and we laugh.

– But you know, I'm always watching when she and Victor are playing but as much as I saw they kept it innocent.

– Do you think she's going to like to celebrate it backstage?

– Absolutely. She's not a spoiled princess, she knows you are working and that's why she's not having a party. But she's going to love our surprise, I'm sure of that.

– It's great that I had this to occupy my mind this week. It's been a hell of a week, mom. And I'm still nervous about tonight. Good thing we settle the costume changes for tonight so the crowd has something to think about other than if I'm hurt.

[...]

I can't believe I did this, fuck! I'm so mad at myself tonight! How could I reverse Gayle's name with Gracie's name in my speech? Also, stage and wardrobe malfunctions… What had happened to it? The jump was out of time, and everyone was laughing after I screamed WTF.

– Mom, where's Gayle?

– She's waiting with her friends at the Restaurant. Don't worry, she's laughing about your mistake, she understood, it's fine.
