SAWYER

I let out a shaky breath as the metal doors before me slid open, squinting at the sunlight.

It wasn't like I hadn't been in the sun since I was thrown in jail but it felt different, like I was truly feeling the sunlight.

The guard behind me looked around the empty parking lot. "Don't forget to check in with your parole officer."

I turned to him and straightened into a mock salute. "Wouldn't dream of it."

He frowned but the little smile didn't escape my eyes.

We stood in silence for five minutes, the parking lot was still empty.

"I could help you out... get a bus?"

I was going to refuse. Tell him my dumb brothers would be here just as the truck rounded the corner.

Betsy, the truck that was more reliable than the viper that birthed us. She was still the hideous orange colour Caesar had gotten her in. She had some of the best engine power, sick millage and all that shit that made a car a car. You could never tell from the terrible paint job and random little toys my brother's had hanged about the car though.

Walker yelled at Hunter to get back in the car, the latter squeezed through the sun roof.

The stop was messy, as it always is with the Brun children, but Betsy had been through worse.

Caesar, Walker, Forrest, Hunter and Shepherd pilled out of the car.

"Damn. She's bigger than me." Shepherd mumbled as Walker hugged me tight.

Caesar ruffled my wolf cut and Forrest wiggled between Walker to hug me tighter.

Hunter stood a little away, an awkward look on his face.

"Bro we have to Mc Donald's you." Forrest yelled when they all let me go.

I smiled wide. It's probably weird that we have a tradition to eat Mc Donald's after someone gets out of jail, but when you're in a family where everyone has been in jail at least once it becomes a tradition.

"Catch you around Dan." I waved at the guard. He smiled a bit and waved back.

Getting into Betsy was a bit of work, Dan tried to hold in his laughter as my brother's and I shuffled around trying to settle our heavily muscles bodies in the truck.

Hunter, Forrest and Shepherd eventually decided to get into the truck bed while Caesar, Walker and I squeezed ourselves in the truck.

"So.. the prison chicks hot?" Forrest yelled from behind.

I pursed my lips, fighting a smirk. "When they wanna be."

"Hey what does that fucking mean?" Shepherd whined.

Caesar laughed under his breath as Walker swerved. My heart skipped a beat. I had forgotten how recklessly he drove.

"Fuck! Bro don't throw us out of the fucking car with your maniac driving!" Forrest.

I looked up into the rear view mirror at Hunter. He would normally have made a joke about Walker handling Betsy the way he handled women.

But he was too busy being awkward. So what if I had taken the fall for his screw up. It wasn't a big deal. Five years wasn't that long. It didn't matter that he refused to visit me during those five years, even the viper had visited me.

I was legit not mad, he was acting like a damn cunt.

"Hey! Hunter!"

He jolted like a wire had touched him when he heard my voice. I ignored how much it stung.
