❀  SIDNEY

NOT EVEN A FULL DAY PASSED SINCE THE SUPPLY GROUP'S RETURN WHEN RICK APPROACHED SIDNEY. Announcing his return to the belly of the beast. Merle Dixon of all people being the goal of the cop's crusade. Sidney, being the sensible man he was initially laughed in the cop's face; wiping away the tears of shock streaming down his cheeks.

It seemed his first instinct about the man was true, Rick Grimes was the craziest motherfucker he'd ever met. Completely positively insane. The absolute most idiotic person to ever exist; Sidney, just as crazy.

Like Rick, he too would be heading back to the walker-swarmed city. For a less noble reason than saving the racist redneck's ass mind you, but crazy all the same. At least that's what everyone thought when he announced he would be joining Rick and Daryl Dixon.

Lori who always seemed on board with helping people scoffed at her husband's words. She turned on her heels to follow Lucy, who had taken off toward the tents. Rick watched the pair go, seemingly conflicted on whether to follow or not. But with Shane firing rather bitter questions of sanity at the man, he stayed put to deal with his partner first.

Glenn's eyebrows creased, the wrinkles appearing more prominent than what is usual for a twenty-two-year-old. "You want to go recuse Merle Dixon?"

Sidney opened his mouth, then closed it again. His excuse sounded just as unlikely in his head as it would be out loud. Sidney hadn't been quiet around camp about his obvious dislike for the Dixon brothers, and none of them would believe his sudden change of heart. Not after he declared his hope for Daryl's departure from camp at breakfast.

       "Um, yeah why not. ."

T-Dog folded his arms, staring oddly at his younger friend. "Why not? Oh, how about the dead no doubt waitin' to stick their teeth into ya neck?"

"I mean, you hate Merle. Why would you want to risk your neck for him?" Glenn asked, looking around for Oliver. But the older man was still resting in their shared tent, exhausted from all the action of the day before.

Sidney bit his lip, eyes planted firmly on his shoes. Man, why would he want to save Dixon? Do the right thing? No, the right thing would be to leave him there to rot. Support Rick and T-Dog? That's not it, he barely knew Rick and T would be completely against him sticking his neck out for the older man.
