THE STREETS OF ATLANTA REMAINED BARREN AS SIDNEY MADE HIS WAY THROUGH. On guard, and underprepared for the events about to transpire on that pitiful day. Peaceful solutions were a naive promise of the past; birthed and destroyed before he could wrap his brain around the concept.
The clouds in the sky parted long ago. As if mother nature herself was raging war on the rival gang -Gang? God look what Sidney had succumbed to. An afternoon spent with Daryl having plagued his mind with the same paranoia that had earned Dixon the delightful nickname of Dumb Redneck Asshole Armed With Lethal Crossbow
Still needed some work but an amusing way to take his mind off of their impending doom . . . or Glenn's impending doom. Or the growing anxiety of the camp's impending doom.
Gi's told them to make a choice. Violence with the possibility of saving their own; or giving up their weapons with the promise of Glenn being returned. The only problem, returning to camp without those guns would very well be a death sentence. The dead eventually caught wind of them and massacred everyone in their path.
Obviously, Rick being Rick chose the former, and Sidney being Sidney, backed him fully. Glenn's life, the most important factor in Sidney's decision, wouldn't be in the hands of an enemy. Gi's gang did not get to decide who would live, and who would die.
Not today anyway.
The garage was a ghost town. If he didn't know any better he would have never believed anyone was held up there. He did know better though, even without seeing them, the presence of the hostile group was evident.
Suddenly, two men exited from a side door. Ushering Rick's small group inside their compound. There would be no going back now. His anxiety tripled when he saw the rest of Gi's crew. At least twenty men stood behind their de facto leader, armed to the teeth with bats and metal rods.
Sidney scanned for any rooms where Glenn could be held up but found none. Apart from the men and cars, there was nothing else in the garage. Surely they wouldn't have killed him? Not when they wanted the guns. They had to be keeping their prisoners elsewhere.
Looking at the opposing men, he realized how ordinary they were. If he had seen any one of them on the streets before the fall, he wouldn't have thought them to be monsters. He might have even been friends with some of them. Had the world already changed so much that now it was kill or be killed? Was there no common ground to be found?
