Aishatu's pov

Since I come back from Zaria I haven't been myself. I don't know why but I truly miss Abdul and his mom.
I feel relieved after sharing my problems with AbdulHamid.

It's been three weeks since I come back from Zaria. Hopefully, I should be expecting the school's response today.
I wish Mama and Alhaji Ibrahim would allow me to stay in AbdulHamid's house throughout my studies. I enjoy staying there. AbdulHamid's mom is a nice woman.

But I don't want to add to AbdulHamid's responsibility. He is not working just selling groceries and working in a laundry shop.
I wish I could help but I'm just a maid here.
I know if I talk to Alhaji Ibrahim about AbdulHamid he will be willing to help him.

I want to talk to Hajiya Khadija about hiring a new maid who will be assisting Mama.
Mama isn't strong enough to be doing the house chores alone.
I hope she will agree. I don't have Balikisu's Number any more. I would have called her and introduced her to Hajiya Khadija as the new maid who would be assisting Mama.

Balikisu is my friend and Mama will be happy to have her around. She will also take care of Mama for me.
I don't know where I will get her number.
Anytime I glance at Mama. I often have tears in my ears.
My Mama has suffered. I promise to be a good daughter and I believe One day all this suffering will come to an end.

I sometimes wonder if my Dad misses my mom. But why will he miss her when he has another wife and his mom is there with him?
He also has children so probably he has forgotten us.
I miss you, Alim. I wish death never took you away from us.

You were not able to achieve your dream of becoming a pilot. But Allah's plan is the best.
The reason why I want to study law is to protect my citizens and fight for their rights.
Mama Once I become a lawyer I will fight for your rights. I will make sure Baba and his wife pay for what they did to us.

Shatu" Alhaji Ibrahim wants to see you. I heard Mama say while entering the room we shared.
Okay, Mama. I said to her.
I tie the scarf on my head and stride out of the room.
I walk to Alhaji Ibrahim's apartment.

I entered inside and met Jannah, Alhaji Ibrahim and Hajiya Khadija in the living room.
I greet them all and they answer my greetings except Jannah which I don't care about.
Aisha my friend called me that you have been fully accepted as the Student of ABU Zaria. The reason you haven't seen the mail is that they are having a network issue with sending the mail to your phone. Alhaji Ibrahim said to me and my face broke into a smile.

Thank you, Abbah. I muttered excitedly.
You are welcome. Alhaji Ibrahim said to me.
I remain quiet for a while not knowing how to start the conversation with Hajiya Khadija.

Aisha, what happens? Do you want to say something to us? Alhaji Ibrahim asked me.
Yes, Abbah. I muttered fidgeting with my finger as I duck my head.
Okay, go on. Alhaji Ibrahim said to me.
Hajiya, please I want you to hire another maid that will be assisting my mom. I said to her without a mincing word.

Did your mother say she can't do the chores alone? Hajiya Khadija muttered sternly.
I hoist my head up and look at her.
Hajiya, please. My Mom is not strong anymore. She often falls sick. I plead with her.

Aisha you know your mother can't do the chores alone but you are happy to go to school and leave her here. I don't know why my husband wants to waste his money on you. Must you go to school? School is not meant for poor people like you and a maid. Hajiya Khadija muttered to me giving me a disgusting look.

I feel hurt but that is less my concern. My only concern is to plead with her to get a new maid.
Hajiya, please. I plead with her.
Aisha, it's okay. I will talk to my wife. I will ensure we get a new maid that will be assisting your mother and if we can't get one then Firdausi will assist her. After all, she is a girl and will get married one day. Alhaji Ibrahim said to me and I thanked him.
