AbdulHamid~
I signed all the papers given to me.
Today is Aisha's operation. Abbah and Mama's wedding too.
I need to be there with Abbah but I can't leave Aisha here alone.
My phone rang.
I pick it up and place it to my ear.
Abdul, have the operation began? Abbah asked me.
No, Abbah. It's about to begin. I muttered.
Abbah, I will join you in the mosque after the surgery. I muttered.
Let's wheel her inside. I heard the Doctor.
I hung up and followed them out.
Doctor AbdulHamid, you can't follow us inside. This is not your fieldwork. The Doctor muttered and I nod my head.
Ya, Rabb! I muttered immediately the doctor shut the door.
I pace impatiently Infront of the operation theater.
My Mind wander to my Mom.
Ya, Rabb, I pray Mama will find happiness in the marriage. I prayed.
I keep checking my time impatiently.
My phone started ringing again. I hissed and took it out of my pocket.
Doctor AbdulHamid, where are you? It's time to operate on the patient.
Doctor Salman muttered.
I explain the situation I'm to him.
Okay, I will assist you. He muttered.
Thank you, Doc. I muttered and hung up.
I lean my back on the wall.
I puff a sigh.
The door to the operation theatre cracked open.
My heart skipped a beat.
I walk to the Doctor.
How is the operation? Is it successful? I ask the Doctor.
He smiled at me and shook me.
The operation is successful. The Doctor muttered.
Thank you, Doctor Aliyu. I muttered.
Your wife will be wheeled out soon. He muttered.
I waited In front of the theater.
Aisha was wheeled out.
Her eyes were closed.
I follow them to the ward.
The Nurse take her from the wheelchair and lays her down on the bed.
Thank you. I thank them.
They Saunter out of the ward.
I lean down and peck her on her forehead.
Get well soon. Noor. I muttered.
I adjust the strand of hair that falls to her face.
I walked towards the door and sauntered out of the ward.
I take a long stride towards the exit.
My phone beep.
I checked it and it was Aisha's Mom.
I enter my car and call her back.
Mama, the operation is successful.
I want to attend My Mom's wedding. Mama, I want Hafsah should come over and stay with Aisha until I'm back. I muttered.
Okay, Abdul. Aisha's Mom muttered.
I hung up and ignited the car engine.
I zoom out of the hospital and drive to Abbah's house.
I arrived at the house and the gateman opened the gate for me.
I saunter out of my car and walk to Abbah and his friends.
I greet the geriatric men.
The Imam has arrived let's go to the mosque. Abbah announced.
I followed them to the mosque in Abbah's house.
The knot was tied.
My phone started ringing.
I take it out of my pocket and check the caller ID.
It was the gateman.
Why is he calling me?
I pick it up.
Sir, please come back home now.
Your mother's condition has gotten worse.
Your friend's wife can't handle her. Musa muttered.
Abbah, we need to go to my house.
Mama's condition is critical. I whisper in Abbah's ear.
He nods his head and follows me out after excusing himself from his friends.
I walk to my car and we hurriedly enter inside.
I zoom out of the house.
I reach my house and Mama is already outside the house.
She was sitting on the pavement. A carton In front of her she plays with it.
Tears spring to my eyes.
We Saunter out of the car and walk to her.
Mama, I muttered with a cracked voice.
She looked at us and started laughing like a lunatic.
