Aishatu~
I keep turning frustratedly in bed. I couldn't sleep.
I'm suffocated. a wave of sweat streamed down my spine.
Noor, are you alright? My husband asks me.
Yes, I am. I muttered with a sigh.
My stomach growl.
I feel the urge to take something.
I glanced at the wall clock and it was 11 Pm.I scramble out of bed and walk to the drawer.
I kept a flask of hot water, a bottle of water, a cup, a spoon and cereal. In case the need arises.
I take the cornflakes and turn them into the cup.
I put two spoons of milk and a little sugar.
I quickly soaked it with warm water and began to take it.I dropped the cup and drank water.
With a sigh, I stand up and climb the bed.
I felt a pang on my abdomen immediately my head hit the pillow.
I groan.
I shrugged it off and drew the duvet to my body.
The pain becomes unbearable and I silently sob.Aisha, are you alright? My husband jerked up immediately he heard my sob.
I only blink my eyes at him.
My stomach aches. I muttered with a sniff.
He nods his head and scrambles out of bed.
Let's go to the hospital. My husband muttered. He swoops me up and saunters out of my bedroom.
My husband walked downstairs with me and twisted the doorknob.
He walked to the car and opened the door.
He gently dropped me down and closed the door.
He enters inside and zooms out of the house. My husband reached the hospital and parked his car.
He walked to the back door and opened it, swooped me in his hand and started trotting inside with me.
The Nurse walked to him with a wheelchair, he dropped me on it and I was wheeled to the theatre. My heart skipped a beat immediately after I was put in bed.
Sir, you are not allowed in. The Nurses muttered.
I watched my husband. He had a worried expression on his face.
I wish he could stay with me.The Nurses began to throw insults at me for shedding tears.
I ignore them and pray to deliver safely.
The Nurse roughly pats my legs and I Yelp.
Leave, if you are not ready to give birth. The Nurse spat.
I blink back my tears.
Please, I want to see my husband. I plead with them. She doesn't trust us.
Let's leave. Her husband should handle it. The Nurse muttered glaring at me.
Why are you being harsh on her?
I warned you to always treat patients politely.
You will never understand the pain she is going through now because you are not married.
If you won't pacify her then leave. I heard someone shout at the Nurses.I heave a sigh.
The Doctor, walked to me with an injection.
Aisha, it's you. I heard her mutter.
I pivot my gaze to her and it was Farha.
I blink my eyes.
Sorry, Farha muttered.
Please, allow my husband in. I plead with her.
She smiled at me and instructed the Nurse to call my husband. My husband rushes inside.
He walks to me.
Since you have seen your husband, are you ready to push? Farha asks me and I nod my head.
My heart began to beat rapidly when Farha injected me.
I haven't gone through this.
Ya Allah! I muttered worriedly. At the count of three, you should push.
Farha muttered.
one, two, three,.. push. Farha instruct.
I prayed and began to push.
I hold my husband tightly.
Qalb, I can't do it. I cried out.
Noor, you can.
Place your trust in Allah.
Just one more push and you will welcome your baby to the world. Farha muttered.I'm here for you. My husband muttered.
I pushed very hard, and the cry of a baby filled the room.
I pant and fall to the bed tiredly.
The baby was taken out of me.
I feel emptiness immediately after the baby is out.
