After leaving the house, I just listened to music and started to think about whether I should go or not. Cause' Why would Jay lie about his name? I mean it can't be that serious. Plus I felt like it was set up so, I did bring my pepper spray just in case things took a turn for the worse. I feel so stupid for meeting up with a total stranger.

I parked in the parking lot. I saw Fonzo standing on the curve of the street talking on the phone, as I got out of the car he looked over at me and waved me over to him. I fixed my shirt and grabbed my purse.

"Thought you'd never come." Fonzo said while shaking his head. "We can go inside and sit down over a drink while I talk to you about a few things."

I squinted my eyes and tilted my head to the side. "I didn't come here to get comfortable, just tell me what I should know about my boyfriend so I can leave."

Fonzo smiled and laughed. "Chill with the attitude, I'm not tryna take you from yo nigga shorty. I know this all seems weird, but it's not what you think."

"20 minutes." I said while crossing my arms.

Fonzo and I walked into the movie theater, got a drink, and sat down. "Alright, get to talking."

He chuckled. "Okay so tell me what you know about Shawn. So I can know what to speak on."

I rolled my eyes. "Please stop referring to him as Shawn." I stated.

Fonzo nodded.

"Anyways, I've known him for 4 years and we've been together for 3. I know he isn't close with either of his parents, his grandmother died when he was 17. He doesn't have any siblings." I paused and noticed Fonzo's facial expression. "Um, what??" I asked while raising my left eyebrow.

"Yo did you just say he doesn't have any siblings?"
Fonzo asked while laughing.

I know he heard what I said, like I already don't wanna be here for real and I feel like this is a joke right now. "Was you not paying attention?" I asked with an attitude

"I was, I just can't believe you've known him all this time & this nigga been lying to you about his whole life. One his grandma isn't dead. Two he's a momma boy. I've seen him with her last week eating at the dine-in restaurant down the street. He has 4 siblings 2 sisters, and 2 brothers. " Fonzo rubbed his head in frustration. "Do you even know where he's from?" Fonzo asked.

"Yes, New York." I replied.

"Okay well, that's true. How about his past?" Fonzo asked.

I placed my elbow on the table and leaned my head against my hand. "What past?!!!"

"He killed 3 people when he was 19, he robbed many stores & sold drugs."  Fonzo paused and looked at his phone. "He got locked up and then when it was his court date, they didn't find him guilty so he got away with it."

I laughed. "You're wasting my time."

Fonzo presented his phone to me, revealing numerous news articles about Jay that depicted charges of murder and selling drugs to minors. Curiously, I proceeded to read the contents displayed on the screen.

"Deny it now. I've shown you proof."  Fonzo said while placing his phone on the table.

I couldn't fucking believe it. I was in denial, So I told Fonzo off. "You're just a fucking weirdo, you made all this shit up just so you could talk to me. That's not my boyfriend, he wouldn't even lie to me about anything like that. You pathetic piece of shit! How do you even know him?"  I practically yelled and everyone was looking at me.

Fonzo stood up. "I'm one of his brothers. I don't tolerate disrespect from anyone, you're full of yourself just cause you got money. But you don't even know yo' nigga like you think you do. Delusional heffa."

I know this dumb nigga didn't call me a heffa -

"Heffa?" I walked up to him. "If you ever try to speak to me or text me again, I'll file a restraining order on your black ass. Fuckin' creep!" I stormed out and left.

While seated in my car, I thought about all the things Fonzo had shared with me. It was truly confusing; why would Jay lie to me about his life? I asked myself.

I stopped by a fast food place, to grab Jay and I some food. Once I arrived home, I got out of my car and went inside my house. I unlocked the front door and saw Jay watching the game on TV.

"Hey, sexy." Jay said while turning the TV down.

"Hey baby, I got food." I responded as I handed him his food.

"Ou thanks, baby. Come sit beside me and tell me what you and Kelly did today." Jay said while opening his food.

Shit, now I have to make up something off the top of my head. I walked over to Jay and sat down. "We didn't do much, she talked to me about her um... um her personal life problems. You know- um basic girl stuff."

Jay looked at me and tilted his head. "Okay..... you okay? You seem off."

"Yes of course I'm okay! Just thinking about my business I want to start soon." I lied.

"Okay ma."

After our meal, I decided to go upstairs to my bedroom and take some time to reflect on the conversation I had with Fonzo while I was out. I remembered that Fonzo mentioned being Jay's brother, and although they shared a resemblance, I chose not to overthink on it too much. Instead, I decided to browse on my phone, searching for vacant buildings downtown that could serve as a potential location for my salon.
