I eventually made the decision to get up and search for something to eat after spending about an hour scrolling on my phone. Leaving the room, I proceeded to enter the living room to see what Kelly was doing.
"Hey, Kelly. What are you doing?" I asked while hopping on the couch to sit beside her.
"Still going thru these damn emails." Kelly said while shaking her head. "Heard from Jay?"
I rolled my eyes. "Mhm.."
"Get to talking. What did he say?" Kelly said while placing her laptop beside her.
"he basically wants me to hear him out instead of shutting him out." I said.
"Well, maybe you should.. I mean that is something that happened in the past." Kelly said while looking at me.
"Yea, but why lie? I just find that odd.." I said while trying not to cry.
Kelly placed her hand on my knee and gently rubbed it. "Don't cry sis, it's gonna be okay. Take my advice and hear him out because if you love him, you wouldn't give up on him that easily. And I know you love him."
"You're right. Just not now, I need time." I said while getting up to walk into the kitchen."I'm gonna go make me some cereal."
"Okay boo."
Entering the kitchen, I picked up a bowl and Honey Nut Cheerios. Setting it on the countertop, I proceeded to open the refrigerator to get milk for my cereal. I also grabbed a spoon and prepared my bowl. Then, I returned to the living room and sat back down.
While I ate my cereal, I casually watched whatever show was playing on Kelly's TV. Once I finished my first bowl, I had a craving for more, prompting me to prepare a second serving. Afterward, I returned to the living room.
Kelly eyed me.
"Damn, what Kelly?" I asked with a mouth full of cereal.
"I've known you since elementary, and you never ate seconds. You hardly eat all of your food to start with." Kelly said.
"Okay and? I'm just extra hungry right now.." I said with an attitude.
"Mhm. Okay." Kelly said and continued doing whatever she was doing on her laptop.
Upon finishing my cereal, I cleaned my bowl and decided to visit the building my mother recommended. I invited Kelly to join me, and she happily accepted. Engaging in conversation during the drive, we reminisced about our childhood. Arriving at our intended location, we got out of the car and made our way towards the building.
"Ou okay this is nice sis!" Kelly said.
I agreed. I didn't see any gang activity or drug dealing, which was a great sign if you ask me. It looked very pleasing to the eye and I know people will feel safe here. When we walked into the building, it was very nice and spacious.
"I think this is the one!!" I said jumping up and down out of excitement.
Upon surveying the vacant structure, I made the decision to proceed and finalize the necessary paperwork. The realization that I was officially acquiring my own salon, a long-standing aspiration, was an incredible feeling. With no hesitation, I immediately purchased it following the completion of the paperwork. I promptly informed my mother, who expressed genuine delight for my accomplishment. Kelly also shared in the excitement.
"Next week I'll start looking at stuff for the interior." I said excitedly.
"Look at Bey! Makin' boss women moves!!" Kelly said.
I laughed.
Subsequently, we returned to the car and Kelly had several destinations to visit. So, I kindly offered to drive her wherever she needed to go since I had nothing else to do for the day. Despite feeling dizzy and nauseous throughout the driving around, I managed to suppress my discomfort and pretended everything was fine.
"Kelly..." I mumbled.
"Yes? You okay?" Kelly asked while looking over at me.
"Mhm. Can I stop somewhere to get ice before we head to your next destination?" I asked in a low tone of voice.
"Ice?" Kelly asked.
"Yes, I'm just um..craving some ice really bad right now." I replied.
Kelly looked at me and squinted her eyes. "Okay, sis."
I went to the closest fast-food restaurant to get some ice and unexpectedly ended up ordering fries as well. Kelly was observing me closely, and it seemed like she suspected that I might be pregnant.
"Mm, you got fries as well. Interesting." Kelly said sarcastically.
"Girl mind the business that pays you." I said with an attitude.
"Moody..." Kelly said while eyeing me.
I folded my arms and looked at Kelly. "You know what..."
"What?" Kelly asked.
At this moment I just wanted to blurt it out, but I didn't know if It was a good idea. Me and her looked at each other for about 15 seconds... and then...
