It's a silent and moonless night. Dr. Faust retreats towards her office. The last of her patients had been discharged, and with the facility now empty, she takes her time to saunter down the hall. The lights are off, only the buzz of a distant ventilator resounding in the desolate corridor. She sighs and slows to a stop and crosses her arms, her eyes closing as she takes in a deep breath, the scent of rust finally beginning to dissipate.
"Laurier-"
She opens her eyes. Before her stands her assistant, startled and pale-faced.
She tilts her head. "Lyle?"
A pack swung over his shoulder, he appears a hermit prepared for voyage.
She sighs and turns her eyes to the ground. "You're going to him, aren't you?"
He doesn't respond. A long moment passes. Faust doesn't move to stop him as he swiftly treads past her and out of the facility.
It's only long after he leaves that Laurier raises her head and continues her path to her office. She unlocks the door and steps inside, then locks it behind herself once more. Though alone in the building, it gives a sense of security. She sits down at her desk and pulls out a stack of bytesheets from the corner, searching through the notes until she finds the page she's looking for.
