Since April 18th, 2022, I've been writing Descension. Now, one year, three months, and sixteen days after, I write the final pages of this epic journey.

In the fifteen years leading up to the inception of this story, I had been nothing short of awestruck by the sci-fi genre. At seventeen I get to add to that collection. I couldn't have done it alone, though.

First, my father, Mark Rock; also an author, and man of many sciences himself. Thank you for bestowing the gift upon me, and not only inspiring, but pushing and supporting my passions to the highest possible level. I couldn't be more proud to call myself your daughter.

My dearest friend, though more akin to a soul-sister, and fellow author Miranda Tanampai was chief editor of this book. Both her fore and insight permeates every single page, and to thank her endlessly would still not amount to a fraction of what she deserves.

Sage Delgado, you take my vision and bring it to the physical world. (Usually without me even having to describe what I'm seeing in my mind's eye!) You have infinitely elevated the quality and emotional resonance of this book. I am honored to call you the illustrator of Descension.

And to the reader, you are the apex of it all. You make this book what it is, and I am elated to know that by reading this, you have made it to the very end. I hope you enjoyed cover to cover, and emerged delighted. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you infinitely.

Thank you.
