It was months after Peter had saved the world against a disgruntled man seeking vengeance against Tony. Pepper rolled her eyes reading Happy’s email:
Oh, and he now has a girlfriend named. Michelle Jones Watson. Kinda reminds me of you, boss.
Now, that got Pepper’s attention her son having a girlfriend was news to her. Daniel is sort of a nerd. The ones who don’t get dates until they make money. I have to meet this girl and see what she knows. Pepper chuckled to herself, she’s well aware of how mean that sounded, but hey, isn’t she justified to have these thoughts?
“Get me Barton.” Pepper ordered her assistant.
She continued working, until she forgot all about Jones, but the sudden appearance of a former Avenger jolted her back to her to her thoughts.
“What do you want?” Barton asked irritated, not that Pepper can really blame him. Barton wanted out, even before Thanos and now, a former colleague’s wife is calling him to action.
Pepper threw the file on her desk, “I need you to find everything you can about this Watson girl.”
Barton chuckled, “Hello to you too. How’s Morgan?”
“Fine,” Pepper sighs, “I’m sorry, I just need to find this girl.”
“Does this have anything to do with Parker dating her?”
Pepper glared, “What do you know?”
Barton shifted on his seat, “MJ is a good kid, according to Parker. Why do you even care about Spiderman?”
Pepper breathed out, “He’s my son.”
“What?!” Barton shocked, “Is Stark—”
Pepper nodded, “Tony’s his dad. Will you help me? I just need to make sure that this girl is good enough for my son.”
“I am gonna regret this,” Barton shook his head, “ok. I get it as a parent you only wants what’s best for your children, but why haven’t you told him?”
“I made a promise to,” Pepper explained, “make this whole situation less complicated for my children.”
"And not telling him will make it easier?" Barton asks.
Pepper closed her eyes, "Hopefully..."
