Third Person POV:

"Yo, Mike," Lucas shouts, moving past the crowd of students trying to enter the school. "Hey dude, how have you been?"

The ravenette stops skateboarding, looking up from his mindless scrolling through Pinterest and popped the bubble gum in his mouth. "Hey, Lucas," He says. "I've been doing good, what about you?"

"I'm not sure," Lucas says, putting his arm on Mike's shoulder as they start walking into the school. Mike pops his skateboard up into his hands and tucks it under his arm. "It's a new year, you know? New teachers, new grades to fail."

Mike scoffs. "You might not fail Language Arts this year," He says.

"And you might now fail Math, how is your hope for that?" Lucas retorts. Mike stays silent. Lucas grins. "What I thought, man."

"Hey guys!" Another boy comes running, high-fiving Lucas when he gets to them. "Ready for school?"

Mike groans, throwing his back. "You mean torture?" He mutters. "Because Dustin, honestly no."

"Hey, you might get good grades this year," Dustin says.

Mike just pops his gum again. "Hey, where's Max?" Dustin questions, directing the sentence to Lucas. The boy just shrugs. "She'll be late."

"What's up, losers?" A red haired girl suddenly skateboards by, coming to a stop next to Lucas.

"What's up bitch," Mike retorts. Max sticks her tongue out at him.

Lucas pulls Max into a hug and gives her a kiss on the forehead, and the group walks in the school entrance. The hallways were bustling with teenagers, and a few teachers trying to assert some control in the situation.

"Welcome to junior year, folks," Lucas says. "Does anyone know where Will is?"

Dustin chuckles. "You know what always happens, Lucas," He says. "We'll find him by his locker with a million girls and boys crowding him asking for his number."

Mike rolls his eyes. "Annoying fuckers.." He mutters.

Suddenly, someone bounds down the hallway and throws themselves in Mike's arms. "Mikey! I missed you!" Jane says, giving Mike a kiss on the cheek.

"We just saw each other like- two days ago," Mike says, sounding bored.

"I know! So long," Jane says. "Did you miss me? I can't believe our teachers are purposefully putting us in different classes," She huffs and pouts in annoyance.

Mike gives her a smile. "Don't worry, there's still lunch," He says.

"You're right, well, we should find Will," Jane says, interlocking her arm with Mike's. "He was explaining how he wanted to get better grades than last year because we're about to be seniors which is basically college and I was telling him he got all A's last year but he said that his GPA was still too low and I said-"

Jane continued to go on and on about who knows what, and Mike was half listening. Max, on the other hand, was listening intently, putting her input whenever 'necessary'.

The group approached a huge crowd surrounding one locker, and Mike sighed.

"Alright, break it up, break it up," Lucas says, his voice going louder than the chattering. The crowd went silent. Lucas had that effect on people, not because he was a bully or rude, but more the opposite. People just listened to him. And being on the basketball team helped too.

The crowd parted to show Will at his locker, giving a strained smile at a girl latched onto his arm. Mike's eyes darkened. This girl didn't get the hint.
