Third Person POV:
Mike's eyes flutter open, and he immediately jolts into a sitting position.
He was in the nurses office, that was clear. And he was in a cot with the curtain surrounding him, making it dark and comforting. Mike glanced around for his bag, and when he couldn't find it, his eyes widened.
"Ah, Mr. Wheeler," The nurse says, gently moving the curtain away so she could enter. "How are you feeling?"
Mike's eyes darted up, wide and panicking. "W-Where-" He says, looking around again.
"Hey, hey, you're alright," The nurse says, moving over to Mike's side. "You're in school, in the nurses office. You're safe."
"No, no, no no," Mike says, full on hyperventilating. "Not safe, not ever."
"What do you need right now?" The nurse says, gently clasping her hands securely around Mike's own hand. "Would you like some water? Some crackers?"
Mike bit his lip so hard he almost started bleeding. "M-My bag, where's my b-bag?" He says, sniffling back a sob.
"Your bag?" The nurse repeats. Mike nods, on the verge of tears. "Oh, it's right here, don't worry," She pulled the bag out from under the bed, handing it to Mike. Mike latches onto it like it held his life inside. "Alright, is that all you need?" The nurse asks kindly.
Mike nods. The nurse smiles, before standing up. "Thank you," Mike says softly.
"Absolutely, no problem, dear," She says, slowly walking out. "I'll be just outside this curtain if you need me, okay?" Mike nods and she fully disappears from his sight.
He checks the time, and his eyes widen. It was already one in the afternoon. He didn't even go to the first period.
Mike sighs, before checking his text. He hands practically millions, his friends texting almost every second to see if he was alright. But his blood ran cold when he saw a few texts from his mother. He knew that Karen was out on a 'business trip', meaning she, Ted, and Holly were on some vacation.
Why did I just get a call from school that said you fainted?
Micheal, answer me.
I don't care what happened, tell me now.
Micheal.
For god's sake, explain this idiocy young man.He quickly texted back an apology for not texting, since he was in class, which was a lie. And said he had just fainted for a few seconds earlier that day because he didn't eat breakfast.
It wasn't his best work, but it would have to do.
Then, he went on his friend's group chat, and just sent a simple I'm okay. Instantly, multiple texts came from all of his friends, begging for details.
He told them he was tired, which he was, and decided to ignore the rest of the texts.
But then his eye caught one of the people who had contacted him. It was that senior who was selling the drugs to him, Eddie Munson. He was explaining how he had the next batch for Mike and was free whenever Mike was.
A smile danced on Mike's lips, and his replied that he was free tomorrow after school, usual meet up?
A thumbs up emoji replied.
...
"How are you?" Will asks, walking with Mike down the hallway.
Mike shrugs. "Fine, I guess," He mumbles, his head elsewhere. His fingers were fidgeting with his phone, shaking slightly. A ringing sound came from his phone, and he saw it was Nancy. "I have to take this," Mike says, glancing at Will. "See you tomorrow?"
Will gives him a strained smile. "Yeah, tomorrow," He says.
Pushing the doors open, Mike drops his skateboard and starts skating away. Will stopped walking, staring at the boy.
"What is it?" Mike questions into the phone.
It was Nancy. "I'm here to pick you up, we're going straight to the doctor's appointment," She says through the phone. Mike sighs dramatically. "I'm in the A Parking lot, c'mon, the appointment starts at four."
Mike takes a swift turn on his skateboard, and starts to go to the parking lot. He enters, searching for his sister's car.
Nancy waves her hand out of the window, and Mike skates toward her.
"How were your classes today?" Nancy questions as Mike climbs in the passenger seat. "And your friends?"
Mike shrugs. "Fine," He says. "My friends are fine."
"Did you learn anything in class?" Nancy says, starting to leave the lot. "What classes do you have with your friends? Don't you have History with Will?" Mike nods.
Nancy turns the radio on, and some random song starts playing from it.
"When do you think Mom and Dad will get back?" Mike questions. Nancy bites her lip in thought. "I don't even remember when they were leaving."
"I don't know, they didn't tell me either," Nancy says.
They arrived at the doctors a few minutes later, and the two got out. "What do you think they'll do in there?" Mike says as they walk to the doors. "I'm not even hurt that bad, I'm fine with the bandaging I have right now."
"You hit your head, you might have something wrong we don't know about," Nancy says.
She pushes the door open and the two siblings walk to the front desk.
"Hello, why are you here?" The front desk person asks them, typing on their computer.
"We have a scheduled appointment for Micheal Wheeler," Nancy says, gesturing to Mike. "It's for a health evaluation."
The lady typed for a few moments before nodding. "Yes, we got you scheduled, just sit over there," She points at the waiting area. "And wait for your name to be called."
"Thank you," Nancy says, and the two walk over, sitting down. Mike pulls out his air pods and phone, putting them in and starts to listen to music while scrolling through Pinterest. He also takes out some gum and starts chewing. It was relaxing.
It took a few minutes, but then a nurse came out. "Micheal Wheeler?"
He looks up, and Nancy and him follow the nurse into the other areas. She directs them into a room. Nancy and the nurse exchange a few pleasantries and then the nurse turns to Mike, who wasn't really paying attention and was looking at his phone.
"Hello, you're Micheal, yes?" The nurse says, extending a hand. Mike looked up. "My name is Alice."
Mike gives her a fake smile and shakes her hand. "I prefer Mike." He says.
"Well, your sister here said on the appointment registration that you hit your head while skateboarding, yes?" Alice says. "And you made it bleed quite badly?"
"Yup," Mike says, dragging out the p. "But she bandaged it up, I don't see the point of being here."
Alice smiles. "Sometimes you don't realize something is wrong until you go to the doctor."
"Alright," Mike says, sounding disinterested.
Alice had him sit down on the chair next to him, and she moved the bandaged on his head away, making him wince in pain. The injury was easy to see, a long line on one side of his head, and Alice frowned when she saw it.
"Oh, this doesn't look 'fine' at all," Alice says. "I'll get the doctor, but you might need stitches."
Mike looks up at her with wide eyes. "What? No!" He exclaims.
"Mike, if you need stitches, we're getting you stitches," Nancy says, staring at her brother with her arms. "That's final, and we have enough money for it anyway."
The boy grumbles something about how it wasn't necessary, but Alive and Nancy spoke before Alice went to get the doctor.
