Here's a short story about Levy and her mother. It's not a ship but I just had this idea.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A tiny Levy McGarden was perched on her mother's lap with an open book. The little bluenette pointed at a silly picture of a fire-spouting dragon.
"Mama! Mama! Read this story to me!" Levy cried. "Again?" The woman asked. "Pumpkin, you heard this story many times." Levy grinned, showing her teeth gaps. "It's my favorite!" she giggled. "It's about a dirty and pretty girl meeting a handsome and rich prince."
Levy's mom laughed. "And right in front of me is also a dirty and pretty girl." Levy looked at her muddy little hands while being picked up by her mother. "Now off the the bath with you!!" Levy screamed in delight as her mom flew her to the manor's grand bathroom.
In the fun bubble bath, Levy had her full attention on her mother's memorizing voice as it echoed through the walls. "And at the end, the new princess who once was a slave got married to her true love, the prince and they lived happily ever after. The End."
Levy applauded. "That was amazing!" She sighed a tiny sigh. "I wish that can happen to me." Th elder woman snapped the book shut and leaned toward Levy. "That can happen if you believe." She said poking at her daughter's nose. "Didn't that happen to you with daddy?" The small girl asked. Levy's mom smiled. "Yes it did. Before he..." She trailed off, her smile turning into a frown. "Before he left to a better place."
Levy's little smile faded away when she saw how sad her mother got. "Mama, don't cry." Her pudgy little finger wiped away a tear rolling down her mother's face. "Liliana!" A gruff voice called from the master's bedroom. "I need a refill on my tea!" The woman's long sky blue hair snapped toward the voice. "Stay put, Pumpkin." Liliana said to her child as she hurried out of the bathroom.
A few moments later, a smacking sound could be heard from the master bedroom followed by a few nasty words a 4 year-old shouldn't be listening to. Levy turned to see her mother with a new purple bruise forming on her cheek. Levy gasped. "Did Master Jude struck you again?" She asked with rage in her eyes.
"Don't worry honey." Liliana said calmly. "All Master Jude did was ask me to go out of town to pick up something." Levy pointed at her mother's bruised cheek. "Then what about that?" Levy asked. "I didn't want to leave my Pumpkin behind that's all." Liliana said as she hugged her child. "Now. Let's get you to sleep. It's way after your curfew."
The next day, Levy was bundled in 3 layers of blankets waving good-bye to her mother in the snow. "Bye Mama! Bring me a souvenir!" Liliana blew a good bye kiss. "I'll bring you a new book to read!" She shouted as she galloped away in her carriage. Levy waved until she couldn't see the wooden carriage anymore.
Little did Levy know, she will never get that new book.
Months had gone, years had gone, Levy still waited. It had past 16 years since Liliana departed for her journey. Levy clutched a bouquet of flowers and a letter in her hand as she walked to her mother's grave. Tear stains had soaked through the thin parchment the day Levy read it.
It read: 'Dear Levy McGarden,
We are sorry to say that your mother was in an accident.
Her carriage was found in a ditch near your manor. She didn't survive. She died before we could save her.
We made arrangements of who is going to be your new guardian. Jude Heartifilia will become your guardian, but as a master.
We are truly sorry of your loss and we hope for the best for you.
Sincerely,
The Kingdom
Levy sobbed for weeks. No one in the manor could talk her out of it. She could only trust the master's daughter, Lucy Heartifilia. Levy and Lucy would talk for hours and Lucy would calm Levy down if the tiny woman broke down into tears.
At her mother's grave, Levy placed the floral decorations near the tomb stone that read, 'A daughter, a wife, and a mother. May her peaceful soul rest in peace.' Levy then slumped down on her knees and let all her emotions out. Her grief, her sadness, and her anger toward her mother. "Damn it! Why did you leave me?!" Levy shouted to no one in particular. "Mama! Please come back!" Her fist slammed into the damp dirt beneath her.
Now Levy had no one.
