Kavin Taemiyaklin Kittiyangkul has had some history with the number nine. Well, in all truth, it was just his pathetic unrequited love for his best friend, Thyme. If it blossomed, it would have been nine years since Kavin first realized that he loved his best friend more than the word entailed. The most memorable nine, however, was Bright. Kavin carried his best friend's child for nine months. The little bundle of joy was the light of his life despite everything. Coincidentally, it had been nine days since Kavin set foot on Thai soil and nine days since Bright met his other father whom he didn't know of.
Going home was a tough decision for Kavin because anyone who lays their eyes on his son would know that he looks like a Paramaanantra. He particularly looks like the current CEO of the Parama Group, Thyme Akira.
But you see the world doesn't revolve around Thyme or his family, Kavin's father is stepping down and he needs his heir. What more will Kavin do with his business degree if not run the family business like he was meant to?
Studying abroad didn't seem like a bad choice after getting his heart broken. Kavin was always set on leaving after Thyme realized he had eyes for someone else. Thyme hated all men and women the same—but he liked Gorya for a time. The hardest part? He first told Kavin about it. Sometime after Kavin knew he loved Thyme, Thyme told Kavin that he liked someone else in the form of Gorya. Kavin understood Gorya was the type of person who was fierce and took no shit. There was no one who didn't tolerate Thyme but Gorya came and that changed.
At first, Kavin thought that it was the new girl infatuation until it became serious. But while Thyme was getting better, Kavin got worse. He was womanizing from day to night as a coping mechanism. He was hoping that it would numb the pain of his love that would never be answered.
Thyme liked someone else.
And Thyme was just not the type to like people.
Kavin knew it was hopeless and it got even more hopeless after that one fateful night, six years ago. That truly changed the course of Kavin's life. He was always set on leaving and never talking about his feelings but life can be really funny at times. Who would've thought that Kavin would leave with the most unexpected life inside of him? From the main reason for his departure nonetheless?
Kavin had always lived a life of luxury and comfort. No one in his family cared that he was one of those weird males who can carry children and when he was pregnant, none in his family batted an eye. That only meant that the Kittiyangkuls had an heir and for them, that was enough.
Only if they knew that his son had Paramaanantra blood running in his veins, all hell break loose.
Kavin shook that thought off. No one ever asked him about Bright's other father. He wasn't obliged to answer. If Thyme had married Gorya, Kavin promised not to get in the way. It was unfair, but it was all he needed to do. He can take the unrequited love, rejection, and the consequences of falling in love with his best friend but he cannot and won't let his son carry the burden of those.
He can give the world to his son, he didn't need Thyme. Thyme didn't love Kavin and Kavin wasn't ready for the same rejection for his son. Everyone is free to suspect and speculate about him being a single father but no one will get answers.
By the look on Thyme's face during the airport encounter, he doesn't know.
Kavin knew the guy like the back of his hand, one look and he was sure that he didn't figure he could be Bright's father. Thyme didn't know Kavin was one of the rare male species that could carry children.
