"How is this possible!?" The Corrupted stuttered out of shock. His face filled with cold sweat and his hands shook.
'It's almost impossible to see the variations!' His breathing deepened as his world slowly fell apart.
Just like before, nine years ago when Duke Reynesford was thirteen.
A small kid entered their hide out and defeated him within seconds; he who lived for hundreds of years was defeated by a mere child who was currently training for being a proper Blessed.
That made him a laughingstock among his comrades.
The Corrupted resented him so much. The young Duke's pity that time of only leaving him with a scar on the face as a warning was an insult, like he was not worth dirtying his hands.
And now, he's humiliating him again.
"Y-You—" He bit his lips so hard it bled.
"—YOU CHEATED!" The red-haired noble jumped out of his chair, slammed the duke among the other tables which caused shouts from the people around them.
"You dirty, lowly being! You cheat—" The outburst was halted when he saw a few dark green strands of hair from inside the hood.
"Wait...why is your hair like that...?" Immediately, he removed the hood and the mask from his opponent, and an unknown stranger was shown behind it.
"What the!?" He pushed him away. "Who are you!? You are not the duke!"
Everyone gasped at revelation, some even covered their mouths. The unknown stranger looked at him pissed but stepped a few steps back closer to—
"Yes, he is not."
— the real Duke Anthony Reynesford carrying his daughter passed out in his arms.
"Good job, Duncan," Anthony said to Duncan who pretended to be him.
"W-ha-What's happening!?" The Corrupted looked around and saw the tattoo man and Cosimo on the floor unconscious.
Right after, knights entered the premises and then, the people panicked and started running away.
"Y-You! You planned this!" The red-haired shouted, pointing his finger at him.
Before answering, Anthony passed his daughter to Duncan.
"I had mercy on you." Anthony started, slowly ungirding his sword.
He took a step forward and the Corrupted stepped back, sweating bullets at the same time.
"But you never learned."
The Corrupted hurriedly opened a portal to teleport far away. However, Anthony's teleportation was faster, he got his collar and pushed him down the floor.
"Augh!"
"Let's end this."
The Corrupted forcefully opened his eyes from the pain and grabbed a chair which he used to strike Anthony. He was successful, and the duke stepped back.
"You were always humiliating me!!!" He opened another portal, and out of the black hole, he took a sword and unleashed a slash.
Anthony blocked it, instantly.
"How dare the likes of you to look down on me!" They clashed and he kept pushing, but Anthony stayed on his spot before deflecting the sword. Removing it from the hand of the Corrupted in the process.
"No!"
Anthony teleported behind him and pinned him down by stabbing both his lower limbs.
"AUGHHH!"
