We drive past the old black gates. I hold the flowers and pin wheel we got for my grandfather.
We drive past a ton of old stones. Falling apart and overtaken by moss. We pass a funeral and I wonder who is it. What they were like. How old they were. We finally get to grandpas bed. His place of eternal sleep. I jump out of the car. The small of fresh rain and autumn in upstate New York hit me. The scent only a cemetery can have. I run over and wave "Hi grandpa" I say. I feel as though he's hugging me me as leaves get blown to my feet. "Look what grandma and I brought for you" I say as I start to open the built in vase and put the water in then the pretty mix of black and red roses. Their fake of course but they match well with the fall Season. My grandmother joins me and brings her dog daisy out. Daisy walks to the corner of his grave and lays down. My grandma leaves me with her as she leaves to go tend to some more graves. I sit down and start talking. About my day,how school is. How my dad and mom are, how my sisters birthday was recently. I loved sitting here and talking.
"Oh! And I nearly forgot!!" I say excitedly as I reach into my pocket. My hand feeling for the bar I snuck in there on our way out the door. "Here I brought this for you. Don't tell grandma" I said just above a whisper and put the chocolate bar on the stone. I know the guys to cut the grass might take it but I like to think he takes it for himself.Grandma grabs daisy and we get back in the car. We leave not talking as I watch out the window of the back seat holding daisy. The graves of the recently and long deceased pass me by and I wonder how many people still
