Eric Chou stood on top a cliff in near a beach in Taiwan, his home. The place he spent his early years. Living in America for so long caused him to lose touch of his personal identity.
It it why his visit here is very personal. Taiwan is where his biggest supporters live, his livelihood. Just standing here, he feels a certain level of familiarity he hasn't felt in ages. While the other times was with his hyungs this visit is only for Hsingche himself or Eric as he's called by "EXOLS" a new name for the fandom.
"Today is a big moment for you Mr. Hsingche. You are the second Chinese artist after Henry to debut. Not just that but the first in all of EXK to debut. You're ahead of your colleagues." Manager Reese Hsu stood beside him with a proud grin.
Just like him he too is from Taiwan. Their common identity has allowed them to grow close together. Hsu being younger than other managers allowed to take the role as brother figure. He's has taken care of Hsingche providing him food and other refreshments. He also helped tutored the young boy during finals week. In short Hsu is everything Eric wanted in a brother, no shade to Alex but Hsu has become someone he could trust with his personal thoughts.
"I'm well aware xiongdi. I've always dreamed of becoming a singer. It was the main reason why I moved to Korea. I wanted to be like JJ Lin and Jay Chou. Those guys were gifted with the ability to sing and write music. Me, it took me years of music training to achieve and I still don't feel confident yet." Eric admitted.
"You're always been too hard on yourself kid. You need to stop comparing yourself to your peers. You are you and nobody cannot be you. The best way to have longtime is to be yourself. You've come a long way since your trainee. You barely spoke Korean when you entered and now you converse well with your peer. Look at those accomplishments. Those aren't ones that a loser has done. You're more special than you give yourself credit for. Just believe in yourself." His managers gave a supporting bro hug.
"Xie xie xiongdi. You always know the right words. You're right I need at the bright side of things. Overdose has done well, out tour is going successful, I'm going to appear in a special music with the SM Rookies, my own cousin will start highschool. There's so many things to look forward!" Eric said feeling much better.
His debut song is called The Distance of Love. A song he came up with during his trainee days at SM. It's about confronting the growing distance of love. At first he thought about his family, then it shifted towards his older brother. Although he and Alex appear close in reality, they are starting to grow apart. Their personalities are just too different and it frustrats him. He doesn't want to draw apart from his brother and that hospital incident was a wake up call to that.
The romantic aspect was referring to the only girl he loved, Wu Xuanyi. The only Chinese student aside from himself, the talented trainee who's still waiting for her time in the spotlight. Although they have become good friends he would be lying if he said he didn't catch feelings for her. Xuanyi was just perfect in his eyes. He would do anything to be with her, but such a love is forbidden in the entertainment industry. He doesn't want to jepordoze that friendship so if he has to sacrifice his feelings so be it. Most of the emotions conveyed was poured from his experiences with her. Their time in highschool and their recent dates.
This was Eric's moment, his gift to everyone who supported him. He hoped Alex, Yixing, Luhan, Tao, the rest of EXO, Henry, Amber, Victoria, Zhoumi, Big Eric, Liyin, Cheng Xiao, Tzuyu, his family, and especially Xuanyi, will see this and support him.
