(I decided to skip "Smartie Kid'' cause the episode was mostly about MK receiving his eyes of truth powers back again and...he ain't here...sssooooo....Also towards the middle of this chapter I added a bit of something that mmiigghhttt not be accurate towards the LMK timeline but at the end I ended up liking it more and wanted to keep it. This is an au story so think of it as an alternate timeline? I guess? I tried my best to follow the LMK timeline but I don't think I did well in the end. Oh well, I hope you like it though. CW: ShadowPeach content maybe? I don't know)

After the trip to the Dragon Palace of the East Sea, they traveled through the desert and to almost everyone, it was a miserable trip. Sandy and Tang were the most stable since they were the ones with the air conditioning up front, Pigsy sometimes getting the luxury when he volunteered to drive for a while, and Mei, because of her dragon heritage, she managed the heat pretty...decently. She still felt like she was fried fish and Monkey King was just chilling when he started to meditate to get his energy and powers back. The only one that suffered the most was Macaque.

Sure his outfit wasn't the best when it comes to the heat, but his fur was so unbearable, he considered shaving his whole body. He spent most of his time in the van, shirtless and in shorts that Pigsy or Tang lent him. He still had a miserable time but it was doable.

He didn't want to admit it, but he almost wanted to cry when the van broke down in the middle of the desert. Luckily they were near a junkyard...that was in the middle of the desert...confusing. But that didn't matter to him when Sandy, the saint that he is, managed to make some sort of new engine with some spare parts. Which almost made Macaque want to kiss the ground he walked on. Okay, he might over exaggerate, but if he didn't get out of the sun soon, he would end up being a cooked monkey.

Luckily, after that whole ordeal with the van, the rest of the trip went off without another hitch. Days after leaving the desert, the gang was camping in some forest, which Macaque appreciated a lot. Now packing to leave, Macaque helped out the husbands on packing while Mei and Sandy were off somewhere.

"Oooh! Monkey King, he's glowing!" Tang said, staring at the now glowing monkey, in the same position as he was in when they were driving through the desert, "That's got to be a good sign, right?"

"That's all he does! Glows and sits around all day 'cause he's "got to get his strength back" and apparently he can't spare five minutes to help pack up camp!" Pigsy complained, letting out a squeal as he fumbled to the floor, trying to fold a chair.

Macaque rolled his eyes but walked over to the pig demon and helped him get the chair off of him, Tang was too busy scolding him, "Pigsy, you know never to wake up someone from a transcendental meditation!"

"I agree with specs," Macaque said, properly finishing folding the chair, "Wouldn't be a good idea to wake him up like that,"

"Ooohhh! Tell me what happens-"

"Tang!" Pigsy huffed, "Go get the others! Let's get going!"

"Alright, alright!" Tang rolled his eyes and walked off to get Sandy and Mei. The said two are now sitting on top or rocks, Mo joining them as he sits on Mei's lap, trying to calm themselves down, mostly Sandy trying to help Mei calm down. As soon as they got away from the spiders and away from her great uncle's home, she had a hard time falling asleep.

It's been days of her trying to fight her nightmares. About MK, about leaving her great uncle to fight the spider goons, about losing this battle. So having her hair in a tangled mess and having eye bags under her eyes, looking like she's been dozing off multiple times, it's pretty understandable. But she wanted to sleep. So badly. Almost considering letting Macaque knock her out. Maybe if she made him mad enough to do so...
