Me: (I think, I'm starting to get used to it. This Grand Road Hotel is fancy, but nowhere near as fancy as the palace, honestly its just a little bit underwhelming. Hmmmmmmmm....am turning into a spoilt brat?)
I follow Mary into the hotel and she leads me to my room.
Mary: Here you go, this is where you're gonna stay.
Me: Alright, I'm locked and loaded and ready to help! Where is Dr. Herbert? Its been a while since I saw him.
Mary: Dr. Herbert is busy talking to the mayor, we shouldn't interrupt him.
Me: Oh...So what have you two been up to, while I was at Ronald's place.
Mary: Well, Dr Herbert has been discussing with the local farmers and doctors to find a cure for some infection that has been affecting the cattle here, and I have been mostly assisting Dr. Herbert, taking care of his room, preparing meals and making sure he gets enough sleep.
Me: Ok.....So what exactly am I supposed to do? How can I help?
Mary: Dr. Herbert likes to work alone, says we'll just get in the way and slow him down, and it's not like either of us know anything about medicine.
Me: But, the King said I'm supposed to help!
Mary: Yes, the King also said that you need to learn about this world by going out and exploring it.
Me: (A whole world out there, waiting for me to come and conquer it! What an exciting thought!)]
Mary: So here, get me the things in this list from the market.
Mary hands me a paper list and a pouch.
Mary: I've written down the ingredients and their approximate price. The paradeisos are in this pouch, Oh paradeisos are the currency we use in this Kingdom. Since this is your first time I don't want any shopkeepers to rip you off.
Me: You want me.......to go grocery shopping?
Mary: Well, its not like you know how to buy anything in this world, how can you do anything in this world if you don't even know how to buy food. Think of this as a good first step.
Me: Why do we even need to buy groceries, aren't we in a fancy hotel, cant we just order food here?!?
Mary: Yes Peter, we can order food, but as a member of the Royal Palace Dr Herbert has his specifics when it comes to food. So I need to cook it and for that I need your to get these ingredients. So quit your whining and get to work!
Mary speaks sternly and I know there's no point in resisting. I grab the pouch and list and put it in my coat and start heading out.
Mary: The market is near the town square, all road lead to it, so you can't miss it. All the best Peter!!
I walk along the road staring at the list in my hand.
Me: (Well, looks like I gotta start with some fish, some salt, some-)
I bump into a man as I was staring at the list and not paying attention to the road.
Man on Street: Hey, Watch where you're going !!
Me: Sorry, sorry.
Me: (Aw man, why am I so stupid, I cant even walk on my own without messing up. Sigh. Turns out Mary was right all along. I need to learn so many things, but first I gotta start at the basics. Alright Let's do this!!)
I find my way to the town market, this time paying attention to the road and find a shop selling fish. I hand the list to the shopkeeper and he packs the fish ordered.
Fish shopkeeper: That'll be 150 paradeisos.
Me: Okie
I reach into my coat to grab the pouch-
Me: (Huh, where is it?)
I look inside my coat, shuffling through it pockets. I remove my coat and shake it. Nothing. MY COAT IS EMPTY.
Fish shopkeeper: I don't have all day here, I got other customers waiting! You got the paradeisos or not?
Me: (I-I-I lost it....My first grocery run, My money got STOLEN)
I leave the shop in dismay feeling defeated.
Me: (What am I going to do now?)
