Suspicions and Accusations...Natalie sat there quietly in the passenger seat while Sam tried to fix things. She believed him when he said he never wanted her to feel like she wasn't important, and that he wants to do better, but the hurt inside of her was keeping her mute.
Everything he said, she'll say something sarcastic in her mind, the scowl growing further on her face.
She wasn't sure how many more times he can keep apologizing for the same thing.
The motto was that if someone wanted you, they'll do anything to be around you; and while he's showed that multiple times, times like this were affecting her in the worst way. She was the kind of person who liked being around her partner to spend quality time. This past week, she's seen him when he wanted sex, the day of the wedding; and while they'll share cute moments in between, it wasn't for long before their work got in between.
She predicted things would change in her relationship, but not like this.
With the car in park and the silence so loud, Natalie could hear the slightest noise. There were people walking along the way to numerous of places, and she could hear the faint conversations.
She could also hear something vibrating, averting her attention to the dashboard where Sam's phone laid.
The screen stayed dark, and she knew it couldn't have been hers because the device that was tucked away in her bag on her lap didn't ring.
Her eyes roam the inside of the car, "what was that?" she asked on a utter, finally looking over at him. She would've possibly dropped it if his eyes didn't widen a little and the look of realization didn't spread across his face, "Sam, what was that?"
She hears it again, her eyes immediately shifting towards the arm rest because the sound bounced from there.
"It's nothing-" she shifts in her seat and goes to lift the piece to reveal the storage space to see what was buzzing, but he stopped her.
She stared at him with shock before the glare crept in quick, "so, let me see it then," now he's quiet. The buzzing noises could only be one of fews things, so she asks, "is that a phone ringing in there?" the brows on her face getting close as Sam's face exposed that he had been caught, "Sam, why do you have another phone?"
fuck.
Sam kept his eyes on her, "it's for work," being completely honest. Since he was rushing to get to her after wrapping things up on his end, he didn't hide the burner the way he usually does, forgetting it was even in there.
Natalie twists her face up, "why would you need another phone for work?" she then quickly demands with her hand out, "let me see it."
She trusted Sam, but seeing he was hiding this device and tried stopping her from grabbing it, she needed to silence her worry even if it meant igniting her anger.
"No," he couldn't let her see what was on that phone. Although it was only timestamps and locations from today, she'll start asking questions and he wasn't ready to give her the answers.
A puzzled expression forms on her face, "no?" she tries to lift the arm rest piece again, but he stops her. She cuts her eyes at him and gasps faintly, thoughts coming in quick with all sorts of suspicion.
"Natalie-" he went on to explain himself, but she drowned him out to focus on the voice in her head.
She could only come up with one excuse as to why he had a whole 'nother phone: it had to be to cover his tracks.
