Chapter 42
Green Light
Startled, I opened my eyes with bright lights hurting my eyes. I immediately squeezed my eyes shut. Where the fuck am I? Bakit sobrang liwanag? Tsaka, hindi ko narinig 'yung limang alarm na sinet ko sa phone ko ... SHIT! I'm late for my call time!
I shot up in bed and was immediately held back by two pairs of strong arms around my body. My eyes widened when I realized they were Storm's and my father's.
"Anong—?"
"You're awake," Storm said in awe... and in relief. "You're finally awake," he said as he wrapped his arms around me, his body shaking as he took a deep breath.
"Storm?" I called out his name in confusion. What the hell is going on? Why am I in a hospital room? What happened?
Storm pulled away from me just as my father started asking questions. "Anak, wala ka bang naaalala sa nangyari kagabi?"
I looked at my father in confusion. Why is he here? I thought he was mad at me. "Papa? Anong nangyayari? Bakit nandito kayo ni mama?" I asked him instead of asking his questions.
But then I saw my mother's tear-stained face.
Suddenly, reality hit me like a fucking bus. Memories from last night's harrowing events flashed behind my eyes... and I remember that I was fighting for my life.
I flinched from Storm's and Papa's hold on me and they immediately let me go. "Anong araw ngayon? I need to go to the House of Red show!"
"Anak, hindi ka aalis," sabi ni papa. "Natatandaan mo na ba anong nangyari kagabi?"
Thank God, may oras pa ako para makapunta sa House of Red show.
Hindi ko sinagot ang tatay ko. "Sorry po, but I need to leave now! I can't not go! Sobrang unprofessional kung hindi ako pupunta sa show na ako ang openner at finale. I can't let Sir Red down. He's so good to me, I don't want to disappoint him."
Storm took my hand again, this time I didn't flinch. "Babe, you're not being unprofessional. You were attacked by your stalker last night and they're letting you recover from the attack."
Shaking my head, I started to reassure him that I was fine to go. "I'm okay, Storm. I promise I'm okay. Please let me go to the fashion show."
He leaned close to my face and explained to me in a hushed but firm tone. "You need to stay here and rest. Hindi ka rin papayagan nila Sir Simon. They're worried sick about you and they'd rather you not show up. They want you to rest and heal."
"Storm, please," I pleaded to him, shaking my head. "I need to go." He has to know how incredibly important this is to me, to Sir Red, and to his baby, the House of Red.
"I'm sorry, baby. I can't let you do that."
"I need to go, Storm," I pleaded to him again, tears starting to roll down my cheeks. "He's already hurt me, I don't want him to matter when it comes to my career. He doesn't get to matter." I clasped his arm and squeezed it tight as I pleaded to him to let me go. "He doesn't get to win."
"He's not winning, Ash," he whispered, trying to reassure and calm me down. "He's already in custody and he's not getting out of jail. My dad's pulling all the strings to make him rot there."
I leaned back in shock. His asshole dad? "Your dad? Architect Ongpauco?"
He smiled gently. "Yes, baby."
I could only stare at him in shock, tears rolling down my face. "You talked to him? But yo–you hate him, Yap."
"I'd do anything for you," he said with a gentle smile. "You're my everything, okay? I'd do anything to keep you safe and away from your stalker, even if it means dealing with the devil himself."
