Chapter 54

New Christmas Traditions

[A/N: I recommend that you guys listen to 'Lover' by Taylor Swift while reading this chapter. Thanks!]

"Can we open the gifts now, please?" Jamie's three-year-old genius daughter, Amidala asked her mom for what feels like the millionth time today.

Her mom busy taking care of her one year-old brother, just gave her a look that shut her up.

That's enough proof for me.

I checked the time and saw it's 10:30 PM already.

"I do declare that it's time to open the Christmas gifts! Excited na rin ako sa mga reactions niyo sa mga regalo ko sa inyo."

"Are you sure? Sobrang kakalat dito sa sobrang daming gift wrappers," sabi ni L, bilang isang tao na tamad maglinis, isa sa mga personal rules niya ang huwag magkalat kahit saan para wala siyang lilinisin.

"Don't worry, I don't mind cleaning up," I said, winking at her. Then clapped my hands to get everyone moving. "C'mon, guys! Let's start opening the gifts! Who wants to go first?"

"Meeee!" the precocious kid squealed.

We let her sit in front of our massive Christmas tree, which was surrounded by tons of boxes and bags of Christmas gifts. Her parents and us, her aunts and uncles, were ooh-ing and ahh-ing as she grinned for the cameras. She's so freaking cute!

The first gift she got from her Aunt Louisse was a makeup and nail polish set for kids, while her Uncle Kade got her bike, complete with a cute pink helmet and pink protection gear for her knees and elbows. Her mom and dad give her a gold necklace with her name as the pendant and a pair of diamond earrings.

From Storm, she received a box of cardboard books for kids—which earned the loudest screech. She truly is the daughter of the friend group's bookworm. The kid is turning into a nerd, I swear. I'm just happy she loved my gift, a Nintendo Switch which Jamie has claimed as hers now.

Anakin received a new pair of sneakers from his Aunt Louisse and a Chicago Bulls jersey from his Uncle Kade. His parents gave him a gold baby bracelet and a few learning materials that doubled as toys. Storm got him a replica of his dad's race car, while I bought him a white Burberry polo shirt.

"Damn, bakit naiinggit ako sa gifts ng mga batang 'to?" I heard Louisse grumbled. If only she knew what my gift is, excited na ko sa reaction niya.

"Wait! Hindi pa tapos! We received these a few days ago from Lake, hindi nakalimot ang Hankle sa mga favorite niya," I exclaimed before running to the guest room where we stored the huge-ass gifts Lake had delivered here for the kids.

Storm and I pushed the boxes until they reached the living room. All the adults in the room had their jaws on the floor while the two kids were jumping up and down at their gargantuan gifts! Lake did not skimp and spared no money for his niece and nephew's Christmas gifts.

"Can we call him on Facetime while the kids open their gifts?" River asked Louisse and she immediately raised her hand, showing her thumbs up.

Lake answered after the third ring. "Hi, guys! How are ya?" he greeted as Louisse moved her phone to face us all.

"Hankle Lake!"

"Have you opened my gifts, Ami?"

"Not yet! But I will open them now," she answered before tugging her dad's pants. "Dada, can you help me open the big box?"
